Buskers perform a duet to Ed Sheeran, but man steals the show by singing in Italian
You know how you sometimes walk on the street holding a cup of coffee and talking on the phone, when you hear someone singing.
It’s usually a busker, or a group of them, who try to make a living and at the same time gain popularity by singing on the street using playback music or playing musical instruments- usually the guitar- live.
Most of the time, when we come across a busker we are too busy to stop and listen to them.
We are either late for a meet-up with a friend, or rushing to the office, or our lunch break has taken too long.
But sometimes you just can’t ignore a beautiful voice.
This is exactly the case with Allie Sherlock’s street performances.
Sherlock is a teenage girl from Cork, Ireland, who loves singing and has been a busker since the tender age of nine.
Of course, her parents never leave her side, with her dad Mark always being in the audience making sure she’s alright and filming her performances.
The young girl’s career started in 2014, when she first sang on the street and charmed the audience and has since been singing non-stop.
In June 2017 she was even featured on the Ellen Show, where she sang Adele’s “Million Years Ago”, and she also sat for an interview with Ellen DeGeneres.
Allie also has her own YouTube channel, where her father uploads material from her street performances. She has uploaded many videos so far, one of the latest being 2 months ago.
In the video in question, the young girl is singing Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect”, accompanied by her colleague, Philly Campbell, who plays the guitar.
Sherlock starts singing and, soon, people stop by to enjoy her performance. Many of them take out their phones to capture the special moment.
It is obviously a cold day, and everyone wears heavy clothes and jackets- even Allie herself seems to be a bit cold at times. So, it would make perfect sense if people didn’t stop by and just kept moving to remain warm or head to a warm place.
But, actually, many people were interested in her music and just stood there charmed by her voice.
Then, Sherlock steps back – ready to share the stage with someone else.
A young man steps in front of the mic.
He picks up from where Allie left off – but he sings out the words in Italian.
The man is, in fact, Cuan Durkin – a 17-year old Irish busker who has been trained in classical music and opera from a very young age.
This is why his Italian is so good- at least when he sings- and people, as he explains, always ask him if he has Italian roots.
Durkin’s Italian version of the song attracts even more people, and the two artists come together towards the end of the song where they both sing in English and share the microphone in a perfect ending.
The video has gone viral since it was uploaded, and it has already been viewed by almost 8 million people and liked by 128k.
The comments YouTube users have left below the video are very encouraging and are an indication of the bright future Sherlock has in front of her.
