Woman records butterfly landing on her dog’s belly, and people are calling the video “magical”

Winged creatures are rarely seen on land as they are always wandering.

This dog and her mom do not have even the slightest idea of what is going to happen.

Ashley Schoon has a dog named Muffin, but Muffin is not just an ordinary dog because she’s Ashley’s emotional support dog. Muffin is usually calm and always displays her emotions in a harmonious way. But one day, Ashley and her little Muffin were outside playing in a park, and her sweet buddy was showing off her loud and wild side while playing under the sun, something that was quite unusual. Everything seemed to be okay though when suddenly, something magical happened.

A monarch butterfly came close to them – and not only close, but it landed on the gentle dog’s belly.

“She was going nuts because she was really hyper … when all of a sudden a butterfly landed on her. She didn’t even know what to do. She was so confused as to what the heck just landed on her face,” Ashley told The Dodo.

The sweet pup was caught off-guard but she did not seem bothered at all.

At that very moment, Muffin immediately calmed down and she allowed the butterfly to just simply rest on her stomach.

“I was scared she was going to try to eat it. But she decided to lay all the way flat on her back and just let the butterfly stay on her tummy,” Ashley said.

The cute pup was clueless about what was happening and probably about the real identity of the creature that landed on her. What she was sure of, though, was that she needs to be a gentle giant to her fragile visitor. Muffin showed awareness of the situation and she laid on her back with all her legs wide open. She just let her new friend take a stroll on her body and to her chest.

Muffin was interested in what was happening but she decided not to disturb her winged friend. A couple of minutes passed and the butterfly flew but not that far. “It landed on [Muffin’s] chin and she tried to look up at it without it going away,” Ashley said.

“She actually calms a lot of animals down, even ones that aren’t dogs. Maybe that’s why the butterfly decided to land on her,” Ashley said.

It looked like Ashley stood still as well because she was able to capture that precious moment on camera.

Ashley was able to capture that rare moment showing two very different animals cuddling, and she later shared it to Twitter. The post gained so many positive reactions, which made her even more proud to be Muffin’s mom.

“People on Twitter have been saying how much her photos have helped them forget about how bad the world is right now, just for a little bit, and I love that. She’s helped me so much and she’s even helping strangers that she’s never met before and that makes me so happy. The world needs some light right now,” Ashley explained.

“She’s a very special dog,” she added.
