Boat captain sees someone throw cat off a bridge – immediately drops everything to save her life

Captain Jordan Smith thought he was just on another regular boat ride when suddenly, he witnessed something horrific happen.

He saw an object be thrown into the air as it plopped into the water… But what was it?

In the past, he has seen a lot of people throw trash bags off of bridges so at first, he assumed that is all it was. However, then he saw it moving in the water and that is when he knew it wasn’t just another trash bag. Something was wrong.

Smith used his boat to get closer to the object in the water and that is when he discovered that it was actually a living animal. It was a cat.

The cat looked — naturally — scared to death. Smith also noticed that she had big, beautiful, bright orange eyes.

The captain owns Let’s Fish Destin Charters in Destin, Florida so he has a lot of experience and has seen a lot of things… But never something quite like this.

“I saw these little orange eyes looking at me and I reached down with my dip net and got it,” he said. “I picked it up and it latched on and didn’t want to let go. [Her] little heart was beating really fast.”

Once Smith got a hold of the poor kitty, he kept her safe and took her to HarborWalk, a beachfront area with lots of shops and food spots. He had a friend there who was able to look after the little kitten until he came back, since he needed to finish his charter first.

While he was finishing up, his friend did a great job taking care of the cat. She took it to the vet to make sure she was not suffering from any major injuries.

At the vet, it was discovered that the cat was actually pregnant but then miscarried during the incident.

Other than that, the cat was okay. Smith wanted to keep her until she fully recovered.

“I’ve got a dog at my house. She’s my princess. So as long as my dog’s OK with her then, we’re going to keep her around,” Smith added.

Smith named the rescued cat Miracle and luckily, there were no problems at home with Aspen, Smith’s Husky-German shepherd mix. In fact, Miracle and Aspen became great friends and loved hanging out with each other every day.

Authorities have tried searching for the cruel monster who threw Miracle off a bridge in the first place but unfortunately, the search was unsuccessful.

It is beyond sad to think that people abuse animals every day… But thanks to people like Smith, some of them are able to be saved.

Now they are all one big happy family. Smith has shared tons of pictures on social media that show him and Miracle hanging out, which just proves that taking Miracle home was clearly the best decision he ever made!

We are so glad to see Miracle get another chance at life.
