Cat comes home with a mysterious note in his collar revealing his double life
Héctor Morales didn’t expect to learn that his cat was living a double life.
When you’re a cat owner, you’re well aware of how cats behave, right? Cats are free spirits, and they will not let us contain or control them. They will live their life as they please.
Some cats love to stay indoors, but some want to wander outside and be able to explore. Just like Nilo, the cat who loved his freedom – or so we thought.

Héctor Morales decided to adopt Nilo when he was just a kitten. He wanted to make sure that the kitten had everything it needed, from a comfortable home to food that he would love.
Nilo was born to a local stray, and it seems that this kitten has inherited a love of exploration from his parents. Soon enough, Hector was able to realize this.
Knowing that he was a cat who loves adventure, Hector decided to give Nilo his freedom to explore. He was confident that Nilo wasn’t going to wander far. His cat always returned home safe and happy.

Soon, Nilo became more adventurous!
Though a bit worried, Hector had enough trust in his beloved cat.
Soon though, Nilo’s afternoon walks became overnight adventures, and then it became days. That’s when Hector realized that his absences were getting longer and longer.
Hector started to worry about Nilo. He wondered what might have happened to his cat. Was it lost somewhere? Was it looking for him?
Then, a short while later, Nilo would come home as if nothing happened.
“He always returns home, like he’d never left,” Hector told The Dodo. “Very calm, and fatter, too.”
Hector started to get curious. Was there something going on with Nilo?
One day, after a few days of Nilo’s adventures, the cat came home, as usual, marching inside as if nothing happened. There, Hector saw a note attached to the cat’s collar.
It was a short letter attached to Nilo’s collar, and it contained a secret.
“It was unreal,” Morales stated.

As it turns out, Nilo – the cat who loves to explore wasn’t that adventurous after all. Instead, this naughty cat was living a double life!
Nilo even has another name and another family where he stays. They take care of him and feed him, so that explains why he always came home chubbier.
“We are the other family of ‘Angelo,'” the note stated. “When he’s not in your house, he’s at ours.”
Nilo’s double life is no longer a secret!
Hector was, of course, shocked! He said he felt a little bit betrayed as well. He joked that Nilo had been two-timing him!
We would feel the same way too!
“When I thought about it, I was grateful that another family cared for him and had even given a name,” Morales said.
After a few days, Hector got over the feeling of being cheated and, upon noticing that Nilo was getting ready to go to his “other” family again, he decided to write them a letter as back.
“Can you give me your number?” Hector wrote, adding that they could use it to let the other know if they were ever away on vacation. “PS: Nilo ate tuna before he left.”
Oops! So much for getting another can of tuna for dinner, Angelo!
“Cats decide who they love,” Hector ends his story. “If we love them back, we can’t deny them that.”
