The very first time Scottie saw Sophie, he was smitten by her beauty. The graceful black and white cat walked slowly with her human mom and there, he stood, watching her from afar.

Yes, you’re right. Scottie and Sophie are cats.

A few years back, the Internet fell in love with Sophie and Scottie’s love story. Their story was unique and beautiful; it was something that made people smile.

Christiana, Sophie’s owner, shared that last January 2014, she went to The Boston Animal Rescue League to get a cat. She said that she was feeling empty after she had lost her 17-year old pet cat.

After looking around, one cat caught her attention. It kept on mewing and mewing until she saw her, and their connection was established. The fluffy black and white cat was adopted and she decided to name her Sophie.

According to the rescue center, Sophie had a rough start in life, which made her new fur mom love her even more.

Just after a few months of being rescued, Sophie and her mom went on their first walk around their neighborhood together. This was the first time Scottie saw Sophie.

“I remember when I first started taking her out on the leash Scottie would come over and watch from across the lawn or driveway without coming too close,” Sophie’s fur mom, Christiana, told Love Meow.

For the first few weeks, Scottie would always stare at Sophie from a distance. He would always choose a spot where he could watch her.

“Sophie was too busy for him… but soon he became bolder and would sit closer like he was waiting for an invite to join in. Sophie didn’t seem to mind he was there as long as she didn’t have to pay attention to him much,” Sophie’s mom shared with Love Meow.

By that time, Sophie already had her own Instagram account and she already had followers. It gained more interaction after Sophie’s mom posted about her and Scottie’s developing “love” story.

Just after a few weeks, Scottie finally dared to go and introduce himself to the pretty cat next door. According to Christiana, the very handsome ginger and white cat was also a rescue from Boston.

“Our backyards meet so we can easily see when each other are outside,” Christiana told iHeartCats. “In the morning the first thing I do is open the door for Sophie to be able to see into the backyard… many mornings [Scottie is] outside and they watch each other from [their] yards.”

Updates were posted on Instagram and the people loved it. Their love story went viral and each video showed how much they liked each other.

Sadly, their love story didn’t have a happy ending.

According to Christiana’s post on her website:

“Unfortunately she had an unforeseen blockage in June 2017 and vomited during intubation causing aspiration pneumonia which she was unable to recover from. She is missed more then I could ever put into words. We are all blessed to still have her cherished videos and pics that will live on.”

The beautiful Sophie passed away at the very young age of 6.

The fluffy couple’s fans were heartbroken! It was so hard to see Scottie still coming by to visit, looking for his beloved Sophie.

It was a short love story between Scottie and Sophie and even though their love story had been cut short, their memories of each other will remain – forever.
