Bo the beagle pup was added to Lisa Olsen-Plummer’s family when he was very young and small, so Jasper the family cat was a bit suspicious at first. Was Bo good news? Would they get along well?

The dog, being so young, was shy and reserved anyway, so he didn’t have much to do with Jasper at the beginning. But, as time went by, they started getting used to one another and it didn’t take long before Jasper, as he was older and wiser, made the first move.

So, one day, Lisa saw Jasper going up to Bo and putting his arm around him.

“[Jasper] stayed back and watched from a distance until one day, he went up to Bo and put his arm around him,” Lisa told The Dodo. “It was almost like he was telling him, ‘It’s OK! Let’s play.’”

And so they did. They started playing and spending time together, until they practically became best friends- or, rather brothers. But, as it often happens brotherhood has its good moments and, at times its bad ones. So, the two brothers sometimes fight and need their mom to split them up.

“They play hard and instigate one another,” Olsen-Plummer said. “Sometimes, it causes a fight and I make them split up — just like kids.”

Besides playing together and, occasionally, fighting, the two brothers enjoy some quiet moments, too. And that’s when Lisa believes they share the deepest feelings without even moving or making a sound. They enjoy spending time together on the sofa, looking outside the window. Basically, they’re bird-watching together.

A couple of weeks ago, Lisa witnessed one of the most touching moments between the kitty and the now 5-month-old pup.

Jasper was sitting on the sofa watching the birds outside, when Bo jumped on the sofa next to him and put his arm around his brother. Luckily, Lisa had her phone with her and filmed the short clip, then posted it online.

“This happened right before noon on Thursday, February 27, 2020,” said Olsen Plummer. “Bo jumped on the sofa and took a seat next to Jasper. He then wrapped his arm around Jasper and showed him some love as they gazed out the backyard window today.”

According to Lisa, this moment of bonding between her two pets was a reminder that every now and then we need to slow down and appreciate the time we have with those around us.
