Do you remember your first reaction to the sight of the sea? Where you completely in awe in front of the blue vastness? Well, now imagine how would a cat behave during her first visit to the seaside.

It is commonly known that cats don’t really like water, this isn’t like a cardinal rule but in most cases, cats aren’t very fond of water.

According to The Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA), “One reason for the aversion may have something to do with the fact that the feline species evolved in arid desert climates. Throughout their early history, cats were not exposed to rivers, lakes, and rain and as a result, were not as familiar with water as some other evolving species.”

In our story today, we will see an adorable cat during her first excursion to the beach. Meet Pumpkin and her brother Moustachio. These two little cats were rescued and kept at a rescue for kittens, owned by Tia. However, when it was time for them to be adopted, Tia just couldn’t let them go, so she decided to adopt both herself.

The two cats were quickly adopted into their new family life and started accompanying the family to all of their excursions, such as kayaking and hiking trips. Pumpkin is a special cat as she suffers from cerebellar hypoplasia, which means that his depth perception and coordination are affected, making him as clumsy as a little puppy.

According to Tia, “He looks more like he trots than runs, his front paws up one at a time”.

Nevertheless, his condition never seems to keep him from seeking out new adventures! Therefore, the family decided to take Pumpkin and Moustachio along with them to the beach. Unlike the majority of the cats, the two siblings seemed to enjoy their time, exploring the beach.

However, this changed as soon as the breeze picks up.

Apparently, Pumpkin really hates the wind. As Tia explained, “The faces he was making, we’d never seen anything like it before, so we were taking pictures and videos”. Pumpkin’s facial expression soon became so popular that on his Facebook account, you can see it copy-pasted on different occasions.

And truth to be told, he looks utterly hilarious!

It’s really amazing what we can learn about our pets that we had never known before given the opportunity. Pumpkin and his brother since that first day on the beach, have returned on multiple occasions, however, as soon as the wind picks up, Pumpkin doesn’t hesitate to make his feelings known.

Pumpkin’s Facebook page is full of pictures that people love commenting on. One woman wrote, “That made my day not laughed so much in a long time pictures are brilliant”, while another said, “What a stunning kitty Pumpkin is, he is so funny, bless xx. Love all x”.
