Cats are weird creatures. They can’t just sit with you on the couch or lie on the floor like any other pet would do. Their privacy is very important for them and they will do anything to ensure it.

One of the most common ways to stay safe and away from people is hiding in secluded, dark places, like wardrobes, boxes, under beds, or behind electrical appliances.

The reason behind a cat hiding under your bed could be that she’s feeling shy or it could be a message that she doesn’t feel comfortable with your friends who are visiting you. Of course, it could also be a game for her, like when she hides in boxes and uses them for scratching- well, that’s better than scratching your furniture!

Also, hiding makes them feel cozy, warm and safe, which means you don’t have to worry unless the kitty is hiding in a dangerous place like inside the washing machine.

People have always loved sharing their kitties’ favorite hiding places on social media and it’s no wonder spot-the-cat puzzles are popular online.

A New York-based journalist, Kate Hinds, has recently started sharing find-the-cat pictures on her account on a regular basis, making her followers go crazy!

The most recent post features a bookcase in her living room and she’s asking the online community to spot her fur baby if they can. This is by no means an easy task, since the shelves are packed with books, decorative pieces, and a TV.

The puzzle had Hinds’ followers thinking hard, trying to observe the photo as closely as possible, and at the same time trying to think like a cat, in order to figure out where she’d prefer to hide.

Many Twitter users soon surrendered, deciding that this was too difficult a task for them.

But then, there were others who claimed that living under the same roof with a cat had made it easy for them to know what would be their favorite spot for them to hide, so they didn’t have a hard time finding the answer.

After lots and lots of guesses, from those who claimed to have found the cat to those who said they couldn’t to others who missed the cat but instead spotted… a mouse, many users started to give up.

“Stumped! My husband tried (very hard) & finally gave up! So what gives?” someone commented.

And then, after a while, it was time for Hinds to reveal the cat’s hiding spot. It was actually behind the TV. And, as you will realize, once you see it then you cannot unsee it anymore. It just looks so obvious and you wonder what was wrong with you and you couldn’t spot it earlier!

Twitter users then started commenting about whether they had or hadn’t found it before Hinds gave it away, while they also pointed out it’s a warm place for a kitty to hide.

In any case, it was a fun puzzle for the Twitter community, and Hinds and her cat got their fair share of likes and retweets!
