Anyone who has ever had a pet dog knows that they have one huge drawback: their insane flatulence. And the cat who lives with this dog couldn’t take it anymore.

Have you ever had a housemate who had a habit that you absolutely hated? Many people have.

Even if you didn’t live with someone who irritated you, you must have been around someone who did something that ground your gears every time they did it?

Well, the cat in this video shares your irritation.

Cats and dogs have a long history of not getting along with one another. Luckily, the cat and dog in this video get along together really well, most of the time. They’re a modern-day odd couple. You wouldn’t think they’d form a friendship, but they have.

Yet the dog can sometimes send the cat crazy, especially when he does something that she hates: farting.

After months of fighting (purrsuasion, if you will,) the cat finally got the message through to the dog: stop breaking wind in my presence, buddy.

So the dog learned restraint. There was just one small problem left over. Whenever the dog fell asleep, all that gas that he’d been holding in had a habit of finding its way out.

One day, it all came to a head. While the dog was snoozing, he let out a loud fart.

Of course, this was a completely involuntary action on the dog’s part, but the cat had had enough.

The cat sprang up, lifted up her paw and started slapping the dog on the head.

The confused dog then woke up, wondering what was going on. Without completely understanding what had happened, the dog rested his head once more and went back to sleep.

Luckily, the pets’ owner was recording the incident, and shortly after it occurred, they uploaded it for the entire world to see.

On YouTube, the video soon went viral. It has, to date, managed to gain over 11.2 million views. It also has over 13,000 likes and 700 comments. People have been saying thing like this:

Clearly, many people have been able to relate to the cat and dog in this video. Sure, the content is crass, but then that’s life. And it shows that animal friendships can be just as fractious as human friendships.

Of course, not every cat and dog pet relationship is like the one in this video.

Every cat and every dog is unique, meaning that every household pairing of a cat and dog has its own quirks. Some cats and dogs go on to become best friends, while others become the best of enemies. Most, like the cat and dog in the video, become something in between.

The Journal of Veterinary Behavior has conducted a major study of dog-cat pet relations. The study produced some interesting data, that many dog and cat owners can attest to.

For instance, the study discovered that cats are significantly more likely to threaten dogs (just like in the video!)

Also, the study identified that early age exposure between cats and dogs was vital for the two animals to coexist happily, and this fact is especially true for cats.

It seems that dogs, in general, are much more adaptable to having a cat come into the home later in life. But cats, usually, need to be around dogs from a young age to become friends with them.

The cat in the video below must have been introduced to the dog a little too late to fully tolerate his annoying habits!
