Teen puts together a convincing PowerPoint presentation to convince her dad to get her a cat

You can’t promise your kid a pet and not deliver.
Christopher Doyle once promised his daughter a hamster and after failing to deliver, she parlayed that broken promise into a request for a kitten.
Well, it was more than just a request. She made a lovely PowerPoint presentation laying out her case. And you better believe cat Twitter was on her side!

Doyle will be lucky if he only ends up with one kitten.
The road to pet ownership began on August 25, 2020, when Doyle posted photos of the convincing PowerPoint presentation his daughter had set up for her family.
She began by simply reasoning with her parents.
We would have made it less wordy and included more cat photos upfront, but everyone has their own presentation style. Besides, she’s all business!

It’s always good to include a scientific basis for your request (cats are good for stress!) – that really makes it sound legit. And you can always argue that your parents are obligated to do what’s best for your health!
Next came the standard promises to always take care of the cat and never leave it up to the parents. Of course, it never works out this way, but you have to throw it in there.

Guilt is another important part of getting what you want from your parents. It’s key to remind them of past failures to get them to live up to later promises.
Exploit it when you can!

C’mon dad, what happened to the hamster?!
Five years is a long time to wait, so now we can add past pain and suffering to the list of reasons to get a cat. And the fact that she used those long, lonely years to do research on how to take care of a pet is the cherry on top.
How are you going to deny the patience and fortitude put forth by your kid?!

Of course, the key is not to overpromise on your vows. We all know that kids slack off on their pet duties eventually.
Parents can often use this to point out that you haven’t thought this through entirely (just for future reference).
We’re big fans of using an image as a lasting reminder in a slideshow. It’s a great way to drive home your point – and if your point is how much you need a kitten, you have lots of options for cuteness.

Not only are we convinced by the effort, but Microsoft (which makes PowerPoint) also weighed in!
A very compelling presentation! She has us convinced

Doyle’s daughter even sent him a text once she saw all the support she was getting on social media.

Dad relented.
But first, he put up a fight of his own using the classic parent tactic: “we need to do more research.” It’s a way to buy time.
Alas, he quickly posted proof that the adoption paperwork had been filled out and now they just need to find the right kitten.

Unfortunately, one kitten they were interested in had already been adopted.
We visited our local Humane Society today. Due to covid, they are appointment only for rescues, so we are booking one for next week! After that, we did some in-person research at the local pet store (wearing masks, of course!) This little guy has already been adopted. pic.twitter.com/8d9ZrLBNKZ

But Twitter was not about to let this go. And on September 9th, we all got our wish.
He couldn’t
