If dogs are considered man’s best friend, then what are cats to us?

For the loving cat owner, felines are so much more than they appear. But for those of us who choose to admire them from a safe distance, we can only go with what cartoons and comics tell us: that cats are the slightly evil counterpart of dogs.

Nacho begs to differ.

This darling cat unknowingly tramples on the stereotype with the sweet day to day routine he shares with his sister, a toddler named Maddy.

Toddler and cats aren’t the ideal mix, especially for a fearful parent.

But for a cat owner who understands just how sweet her pet can be around her kid, it’s a team sent straight from heaven. Maddy’s mom, Simone, shares that despite her toddler’s lack of control when it comes to playing with the cat, Nacho never once showed aggressive behavior.

“She can be a bit rough with Nacho. She can swat at him, pull on his fur too roughly, or she’ll grab his face. But he just sits there and takes it because he loves her.”

Not only does Nacho just let Maddy go about playing the way she does, he sees to it that he always keeps a close eye on her.

Simone shares,

“He follows her everywhere. He’ll lay next to her when he’s jumping in the bouncer. He’s laying next to her when she eats at the table or is drinking her bottle. He’s always right there.”

Since the two are inseparable, it only makes perfect sense that the cat insists on being part of Maddy’s bedtime routine.

This means waiting patiently next to the bath while Maddy gets cleaned up, waltzing into the nursery to join Maddy and Simone for storytime, and even attempting to sleep right next to Maddy in her crib. Simone found out when she glanced at the video monitor and saw Nacho snuggled close to her sleeping toddler.

While Simone finds it incredibly sweet that Nacho and Maddy are always together, she draws the line at slumber parties since she can’t be there to keep an eye on them. But the cat wasn’t giving up that easily. In fact, he keeps trying to find a way.

“As I’m laying Maddy in the crib for sleep, Nacho sneaks underneath the crib. Anywhere where I couldn’t see him.”

Nacho loves Maddy so much that he gives her little cat kisses and stays by her side from morning until nighttime.

Simone thinks this will have a positive impact on her toddler as she grows up.

“Nacho is her best friend. Nacho believes that he’s her guardian angel because he watches over her every day. They are so close in age that they’re growing up together. Her bond with Nacho will have a positive impact on her personality and her development.”

Nacho defies the stereotype that cats are unfriendly and dislike affection. You can see it in the way he interacts with Maddy and takes care of her. Simone is happy that the two have found best friends in each other.

“He’s the perfect cat for her because he’s so patient. He doesn’t walk away or act in defense at all. Either way, I never let them interact unsupervised.”

Thanks to Nacho, Maddy will always feel safe and loved.
