Cats discovered sealed up in boxes are saved in the nick of time
Sometimes people abandon pets because they think it’s their only option. Maybe it’s because they are moving to another state and cannot take their pets with them, or because they have behavioral issues. Or, maybe it’s even because they don’t have enough room in their new home for a pet.
So far, we have heard many different stories about people who abandoned kittens in trashcans. Or have tied cats up in bags and left them on the street, and it always surprises us how heartless some humans can be.
Then you have stories like this one, where a person found four large, sealed boxes full of cats.
Someone had cruelly abandoned the cats near a dumpster. First, though, they made sure to seal the cardboard boxes up tightly. Miraculously, the little ones survived.
Some time ago, someone was walking past an alley and heard a sound coming from one of the boxes that were left there.
Although the boxes were sealed, they could still hear the whining and realized it must have been an animal trapped in there.
The person who found the boxes decided to call a nearby animal clinic, and they worked together to take the boxes to the clinic as quickly as possible.
When the clinic staff received the boxes, they used a knife to cut through the thick layers of tape they were sealed with.
The first box revealed the first three ginger kitties!
“Hello, babies,” was the first reaction of the woman who opened the box. “Hello, darlings!”
“Can you get down and cut these quickly?” asked another staff member, obviously worried about the fate of the remaining cats.
The staff then realized they could still save the cats, but they had to be quick. The cardboard boxes were sealed shut and the kitties trapped inside were at risk of suffocation.
In all, the four boxes contained no less than ten ginger cats and one black cat, all of which, once free, were looking around nervously.
They were found to be underweight and full of fleas, but they were in the right hands now. The animal clinic staff took good care of them all.
They gave them a warm spot to lie on and lots of food, which they were in desperate need of. In addition, they microchipped, vaccinated and dewormed them. They also neutered most of them, while they waited for others to fully recover before they did.
The cats were so grateful for all the love and care they were given by their rescuers.
It was obvious they hadn’t had as much food as they wanted before. Their story was shared all over the world and it made many people donate toward their care, which touched the hearts of all the staff at the animal trust.
“We just couldn’t be happier and [we’re] so grateful,” Celia Hammond, rescuer, told The Dodo.
When, finally, they were all healthy again, they were ready for the rescuers to find safe homes for them. Thankfully, they did!
All 11 cats were soon adopted and went to live with their new loving families.
We are glad that these cuties were lucky enough to be found and saved, and that each of them eventually found the love they deserved. To learn more about this touching story, watch the video below.
