When you decide to get a cat you likely look at its face and coloring. There’s something about the cat that draws you to it. Right? What if the cats you’re looking at eerily resemble a human? And not just one or two cats but a whole batch?

If you’ve noticed cats with human-like characteristics it may not be a coincidence, at least not to Tatiana Rastorgueva, a Russian cat breeder.

Check out this little feline.

Rastorgueva has been in the cat breeding business since 2002. That’s why it’s no coincidence that her cats look rather human. They’re all a result of her selective breeding to get the look that has everyone talking.

She specifically breeds Maine Coons. She says, “I like what I do, I can say that cats are my calling.”

They’re calling so much so that her Instagram feed is full of these frisky felines.

In case you were curious, Maine Coons are a breed of cat that comes from Maine (thus the name). They’re pretty big compared to the size of your average cat. In fact, the world’s longest cat is known to be a Maine Coon that grew to be over four feet long. They are also very cute, so that helps. But when you factor in the human-like resemblance, does that make them less cute? Hmmm….

Regardless of your answer, Maine Coons are known to be affectionate and adaptable. Maybe that’s why they don’t mind that they end up looking like humans. Or, maybe they do and they’re just not going to tell you because they don’t want to ruffle any feathers.

Getting back to Rastorgueva and her human-like cats. When you look at one of these four-legged friends, you may ask yourself why they look so human.

Some people say it’s because of their bone structure, while others think it’s because of that strained look they have or their human-looking round cheeks. Whether it’s one of these characteristics or a combination, one thing is for sure, these aren’t your everyday house cats.

It seems as though many people are fascinated (or creeped out) by these cats. The jury is still out on that. But, Rastorgueva does have more than 100,000 followers on Instagram. That’s a whole lotta cat lovers or at least people who are intrigued by her breeding practices.

Here’s something to think about. Would you ever welcome one of these cats into your home or would the fact that they look like humans freak you out too much? Can you imagine waking up in the middle of the night from a crazy dream only to find your human-looking cat staring at you? Talk about major insomnia after that!

With human looks like those, you can’t help but wonder what they’re thinking? Since they have human looks, do they have human thoughts to go along with it? We won’t really know the answer. But, one thing is for sure. These are definitely the cat’s meow for Rastorgueva and all of those who follow her.
