Cats are so in love with their bunny brother they insist on staying in his cage
Do bunnies and cats get along? That’s a serious question to take into account when considering getting a bunny while there is already a cat in the house and vice versa.
The truth is that bunnies and cats are natural enemies in the wild.
In fact, bunnies are a cat’s prey and, therefore, one might think having them at home together is not a good idea.
Well, this is not necessarily the case.
It depends on a number of factors, one of which is the size of the two animals. Yes, cats are predators, but if you get a pretty large breed of bunny, (eg. Flemish Giant or French Lop), it is highly probable that your average home cat will be intimidated by its size and won’t seek to harm it.
Another good idea would be to introduce the two animals to each other while they are both young.
In that case, they will know from the beginning that they are supposed to live together and will easily adjust to one another as if this coexistence was nothing special.
So, as you can see, bunnies and cats can be taught to not only tolerate each other, but even also to like each other if they are properly trained.
However, how many cat-bunny friendships would be so strong that the cat would visit the bunny in its enclosure?
Very few. But one of them is definitely the friendship between Beau the bunny and his cat siblings.
Beau was the first adoptive pet in the family.
He just fell in love with Scarlett Darby, his mom, and started following her everywhere until she decided to adopt him.
โWhen I first met Beau, he basically chose me to be his owner, he was so beautiful and had such a great personality and followed me around until I adopted him,โ she told The Dodo.
After a while, the family decided to add one more pet to the mix- a cat this time.
Ninji the cat adjusted very quickly to the house environment, Beau included. In fact, the two seemed to be getting along with each other from the very beginning. They played together around the house and treated each other in a friendly way.
And then, Ninji discovered Beau’s enclosure!
One day, he decided to jump into it while Scarlett was watching closely and, reasonably, a bit anxiously. However, there was nothing to be worried about, since Beau didn’t seem bothered by his brother’s presence at all! On the contrary, he seemed to enjoy his company.
To this day, two more cats have been added to the family, and Beau seems to be getting along equally well with all of his siblings.
They play together, hang out together inside and out of the cage, and they generally do what siblings do. One can tell they love each other just by looking at them!
The adorable, unlikely family is here to remind us that we can all coexist if we set our mind to it.
There’s no room for hatred or intolerance, and who would be better teachers of this than animals!
