Social distancing is a thing among humans, there’s no doubt about that, but it seems that cats too have followed through.

Our feline friends are known to be somewhat aloof anyway, so this looked like the purrfect chance for them to stay away from people and from each other.

In the pictures that follow, you will have the chance to see what social distancing should really be about.

1. Symmetry

These friends decided to occupy one side of a bench each and sunbathe in peace. It looks like the wisest thing to do these days.

2. Cat holder

How adorable are these cats that keep their distance from each other? They seem perfectly in line with WHO guidelines.

3. Seriously?

Don’t these cats look like people lining up waiting to enter the grocery store? They’re so patient they set an example for us humans.

4. 3-paws distance

This cat is even more law-abiding than humans! This kitty knows exactly what she’s doing!

5. Follow the rules

We are just in love with this kitty that knows where it should stand to be safe. If only humans were similarly careful.

6. Don’t care

This kitty isn’t following the safety rules and the dog’s freaking out! He’s trying to climb up the stairs as quickly as possible and have minimum contact with her.

7. Current situation

Cats understand that during this time they need to stay far from each other- they know best. We bet they still occasionally gossip with those walking on the street, judging them for not staying home.

8. In line

Looks like these kitties are waiting in line to be fed by this kind human. One at a time, they’ll all have a treat eventually!

9. Oh, Ro-meow, Ro-meow!

These kitties are living their romance from the safe distance of the balconies. We love how chubby they both are though- quarantine has taken a toll on their fitness plan.

10. Meet-up

Kitties arranged to meet up downtown to practice social distancing together. Sounds fair enough.

11. Next level

Kitties took social distancing very seriously- but maybe this was a little unfair for the sweet tabby. Her friend from inside the house doesn’t seem to care though.

12. Unfair

“You’re lucky I’m social distancing, squirrel!” she’s obviously thinking. The squirrel can’t believe he can just hang out on the porch without any consequences.

While scientists have found that certain animals do practice social distancing in order to keep the species going, we are pretty sure cats don’t belong to this category.

They would just prefer to stay away from everyone on any given day than have to mingle with other animals, or worse- humans! Safety measures are just the ideal opportunity for them to be alone like they have always wanted.

Animals are wiser than humans sometimes, so let’s follow their example and keep our distances too, until this madness is over.
