Amazing Grace is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. It’s actually a Christian hymn, dating all the way back to the late 18th century, and it’s been covered by countless artists and groups over the years.

You’ve probably heard plenty of Amazing Grace covers and renditions by different people throughout your life, but you’ve never heard one quite like this before.

The incredible Irish singing group, Celtic Thunder, performed an absolutely jaw-dropping version of Amazing Grace for their album, Celtic Thunder Christmas.

For anyone unfamiliar with the group, Celtic Thunder first formed back in 2007, featuring exclusively Celtic singers from Ireland and Scotland. The members of the group have changed over the years and have various ages and backgrounds, but they’re all immensely talented performers, blessed with world-class voices that bring life and emotion to every set of lyrics.

The group has been hailed as the ‘Top World Music Artist’ by Billboard and won the prestigious ‘Top World Album’ prize on multiple occasions too.

Their live shows often feature lots of Celtic imagery and dramatic scenes, but their voices are always the true stars of the show, as we can see here.

It’s fascinating to take a look back at the story of Amazing Grace.

Nowadays, we see the song as an embodiment of religious values and one of the single most significant Christian hymns ever written.

However, the words were actually written by English poet John Newton, who grew up without any real religious beliefs or interests at all.

He was a slave trader for many years, but eventually decided to change his ways and started studying Christianity, later becoming an ordained clergyman and then finally beginning to write wonderful hymns and poetry.

Celtic Thunder decided to include Amazing Grace as part of their ‘Christmas’ album, which offers up a mix of holiday classics, Celtic folk tunes, and traditional Christian hymns.

It features a tracklist including Ave Maria, Winter Wonderland, Let It Snow, It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas, and, of course, Amazing Grace.

It’s simply magical to watch these men perform. From the first second of their performance to the last, their voices are completely flawless, busting out each note and delivering each line with clarity, precision, and beauty.

We’ve all heard Amazing Grace so many times, it takes something truly special to make this song stand out, but the talented men of Celtic Thunder make it happen!

Each of them has his moment in the spotlight, while the others join in and provide harmony throughout. All we want to do while listening is sit back, relax, and savor the moment as their awe-inspiring voices fill our ears.
