Cemetery worker finds fawn curled up by headstone – deeply moved by the headstone she chose

For many men and women, military service comes with a great sacrifice. For the families of those people, it is a horrible and heartbreaking experience.

There are large sites across the country for the graves of the men and women who served.

In a few of these sites, there are unmarked graves for the remains of unidentified soldiers or those whose bodies couldn’t be recovered. One gravestone in Georgia, for example, is blank. It is to honor the memory of a solider that had no way of identification.

James Taylor is the maintenance supervisor for this site and encountered something incredible one day.

While walking through the cemetery, James noticed that the gravestone which was devoted to the unknown soldier had a special visitor. A little creature had curled up at its based and was hanging out.

A fawn had decided to make it his nap spot and was sleeping perfectly in position.

With an American flag standing nearby, the moment was quite surreal and rare to catch on see. James took a photo that he shared on the Andersonville National Historic Site.

Who knows what drew the fawn to that specific spot.

While we can attribute the event to natural or supernatural causes alike, the fact remains that it was a touching moment for James and the world to see. There is a bit of comfort that can be found in it.

When walking back through the cemetery, James saw the mother.

The deers mother strolled out into the cemetery and found her baby. Getting him up, the duo walked out of the scene slowly. It is almost a scene that is reminiscent of a movie or documentary. It is pretty incredible that the entire thing was captured on camera as well.

The Anderson National Historic Site is one of incredible history.

This site in particular went back to the Civil War and was the location of Camp Sumpter, one of the largest military prisons of the south. It held over 45,000 soldiers from the Union within its gates.

Even though it was established in 1865, the location is still active today.

The site has a long history behind it, only it’s still being added to. The location handles 150 burials each year and is a large piece of history and memories for many.

Experts who have been consulted about the event seem to agree that the fawn was foraging for food alone, something common during that time of year.

Even with this explanation, some may argue it was a sign. Some things may be coincidences and others may not be. Who decides on what is a happy coincidence and what is a miracle anyway?
