Chainsaw artist transforms tree stump into a captivating illusion of bucket pouring water
Such is the strength of art, rough things to shape. – James Howell
In the eyes of an artist, everything can be transformed into a work of art.
Of course, patience, imagination, and the skill to do it are also essential. Gabi Rizea, a chainsaw artist from Romania, is a talented person who can turn wood into anything he could imagine.
His chosen medium is wood, and he started wood carving in 2014, almost seven years ago. Over the years, his skills have gotten better, and his art is full of passion and love.
Choosing wood as a medium and working on it using a chainsaw is not easy. One miscalculation can ruin everything.
Indeed, Rizea is one talented person.

Thanks to social media, Rizea’s work of art has gotten viral, and people have been sharing his work of art everywhere.
He would take a piece of wood and turn it into art.

One of his latest artwork is called the “Apa,” which means water in Romanian.
The art piece shows a pail with water. The water is flowing down onto the tree stump. The amazing work of art was made from a rotting tree stump that Rizea found in the woods.
As Rizea was working on his prized artwork, he encountered problems when he saw that insects were trying to eat away the rotten stump. He didn’t let this setback stop him from completing his project.
Truly, Rizea is a brilliant artist.
Currently, Rizea’s “Apa” is displayed in a children’s park located in Craiova, Romania.

Seeing the Apa, one can give so many interpretations of it. It looks like water giving life to the rotten tree stump. It could also mean hope and so much more.
Like most of us, Rizea was asked about his inspiration for the Apa, he answered:
“I don’t know, in my mind sometimes I have some images. When I work, it’s me, the log, and God.”
Rizea also shared that before he began the “Apa” project, he first had fun by trying to carve a person’s face on the wood.
As you can see, the wood was rough, and it looked hard. However, Rizea was able to transform it into a smooth surface.
Truly, the Apa was a work of art and heart.
It’s challenging to depict water being poured out from the bucket but Rizea was able to do it and even more.
Rizea, now 42 years old, only discovered his talent accidentally.
A few years back, he decided to buy himself a chainsaw. Excited with his new tool, he decided to put it to the test and carved a human face using a block of wood just for fun.
Everyone, including Rizea, was surprised that the finished product looked good.
That is when he decided to try and work on more pieces. Soon, his neighbors started requesting his artwork.
