Dog show attendees get show like no other watching Champion Beagle get utterly distracted

“Don’t be a beagle! Don’t be a beagle!”

Do you know why dog shows are better than sporting events?

When you put together a bunch of dogs and expect them to do their best to obey you, you will get pretty interesting results.

A dog’s got to do what a dog’s got to do.

And in a room filled with adoring fans and discerning critics, isn’t that the best moment to tap into that primal instinct of just being man’s best playmate?

Mia the beagle started so well.

She’s one of the competitors for the agility competition and she has the energy to do some “agility things”.

Pumped up and ready to go, Mia dashes into the systematically arranged obstacles.

It’s up the seesaw, in through the tunnel, and short pit stop just before the hurdles.

The first parts are pretty taxing for a small girl like her, alright? And maybe there’s something more to life than going through plastic tunnels.

Life can be distracting.

“Don’t be a beagle! Don’t be a beagle!” the commentators explained Mia’s surprise maneuver of being distracted by the little things.

Then it’s up over the hurdles, ladies, and gentlemen!

Up over the bars then weave through the poles before stopping to lick your body parts! Extra points if it’s done in front of a roaring crowd and detail-focused judges.

Mia isn’t done, however. Actually, at this point, we don’t even know if she’s halfway through the course. Luckily for her, her handler is always there to lend a helping hand.

Okay, back to the task at hand.

Weave through the poles? Easy. Jump over the hurdles? She got them. Jump through a hoop? Consider it done!

As she cleared one obstacle after the other, the crowd’s energy began to swell in a mix of astonishment and relief.

Will she actually make it this time?

Mia runs towards the ramps, making that homestretch sprint.

Suddenly, she stops right before climbing and looks at the cameras.

If you’re a star, they better get your angle right. We’re not blaming Mia here for that sudden pit stop.

Then it’s up the ramp, a couple of hurdles, and another pass into the tunnel before she clears the course in 66.24 seconds.

There were only hollers and applause for little Mia as she finally finished what she was set out to do.

Will she win the competition? Not likely. Will she win the hearts of the crowd? Most certainly! And good thing we’re not judges here because that’s a solid 10 for us.

“It was very high energy, lots going on,” said Natalie Fisher, Mia’s mom. When asked about Mia’s performance, She shared with Inside Edition, “And I don’t think she really knows how to handle it that well.”

She wasn’t disappointed nor defeated, however.

Fisher accepts the fact that Mia can be a bit excitable but that doesn’t mean she’s any less of a good girl. The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is the second-longest continuously held sporting event in the U.S.

Established in 1877, the Westminster Kennel Club gathers breeders and dog owners all over the country to showcase what their dogs can do.

The annual competition features the pageantry of the annual conformation competition, Masters Obedience Championship, and the Master’s Agility Championship.
