Chef says there’s a “right” way to cook up crispy bacon and frying isn’t it

We often say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, isn’t it? It’s like our fuel before we even go to work or do our daily routine in life.

And what are the most common breakfast staples out there? Bread? Eggs? Bacon?

For most people, these are perhaps the most common simply because they are easy to prepare and sumptuous to boot.

And when we’re talking about bacon?

Crispy is simply the only way.

While others prefer it limp, the vast majority would most likely say they want it crispy. Because, why not?

Who doesn’t want to crunch off that delicious strip of meat?

A strip of crispy bacon just hits differently and we all love it, don’t we?

There’s a right way to cook it.

In terms of cooking bacon, almost everyone (if not everyone) would tell you “Of course, we fry it!”

Those same people will also say it must be flipped to make sure each side is evenly fried.

One struggle with frying bacon is its curling behavior. That means there are usually areas that arenโ€™t fully cooked.

Another thing is if you are cooking it for quite a number of people, you can’t simply cook a pack of bacon all at once.

There’s an awesome fix for that.

If you are looking for an alternative way of cooking bacon to perfection, then you are in for a treat.

First thing’s first. Stop frying bacon.

Master Chef Adam is telling everyone.

He and his wife, Jackie, co-own The Country Cat. Given they’re both experienced and talented chefs, they have the chance to share their cooking ideas with one another.

Theyโ€™re also co-authors of Portlandโ€™s Heartlandia: Heritage Recipes cookbook.

Since bacon is on their menu and they obviously serve it to a large number of customers on a daily basis, they know an effective way to cook it in bulk.

Apart from his expert idea on how to properly cook bacon so it’s always crispy, the chef also shares a thing or two about bacon.

The quality is in the cure.

According to chef Adam, you should avoid buying bacon that is made with liquid smoke and corn syrup.

It’s because those mentioned ingredients change the bacon’s flavor and overall quality. Instead, look for bacon that’s been cured with sugar, spice, and salt.

Ultimately and only if possible, buy a bacon product that’s cured for a minimum of five days.

And start baking your bacon.

Whether you want to succeed in the food business or just want to serve enough bacon strips for your family, then you must follow chef Adam’s advice.

Start by picking the right bacon or better yet, make your own version of bacon.

Here’s how to bake it.

Preheat oven to 350โ„‰. Line your baking dish with parchment paper and lay those bacon strips flat and right next to each other – avoid overlapping.

Pop them in the preheated oven and bake until crispy, keeping a close eye on it.

You’ll notice they won’t curl as they cook. You’ll enjoy every single strip flat, evenly cooked, and most importantly, crispy.
