Courageous dog found in dumpster with injuries has a second chance at a beautiful life
It’s mind-boggling to think our loyal house pets are being served as a cuisine in other countries. In South Korea, dogs and cats are kept in harsh conditions and sold for their meat. Luckily there are incredible organizations that work tirelessly to stop these facilities. The Nabiya Irion Hope Project is a foundation in South Korea that does everything they can to defend these fluffy friends of ours.
Introducing the noble golden retriever Chi Chi!
She was found inside of a dumpster in South Korea while inside of a trash bag and all four of her paws tied with wire. But loads of luck were on Chi Chi’s side, as she was rescued and rushed to a hospital.
All of precious Chi Chi’s paws had to be amputated due to the severity of her injuries.
That didn’t stop Chi Chi from wagging her tail, she still had an exuberance for life and this was her second chance! The Animal Rescue, Media & Education (ARME) got word of the meat farm where Chi Chi was found and knew they had to do something. The ARME team shared fearless Chi Chi’s story on their media platforms and love came pouring in. People from all over were supporting Chi Chi’s speedy recovery. All of the positivity goes a long way but Chi Chi’s healing process had just begun.
With her story capturing hearts, the Howell family, in particular, knew they couldn’t live without sweet Chi Chi.
Elizabeth Howell in Arizona fell in love with the brave pup and weeks later had her flown to Pheonix. Chi Chi would then be fitted for her customized prosthetic limbs!
Now after plenty of trials, Chi Chi found the perfect new paws to get her walking faster than anyone expected.
After a course of rehabilitation, Chi Chi was licensed as a therapy dog. She moved on to heal others in assisted living homes, veterans, youth, and even fellow amputees!
What a glorious second chance at life! Chi Chi was even named American Humanes 2018 Hero Dog Award. With accolades behind her furry name, she continued to brighten the lives of everyone around her. How heartwarming it would be as an amputee to see a smiling pup that looks just like you!
Chi Chi’s amazing spirit has influenced the world in such a positive way.
You could call her the luckiest dog in the world, but we really are lucky to know such an incredible pup.
Chi Chi lived her second life to the fullest and with a heavy heart, she passed away in February 2019 battling cancer. The impact she made on other’s lives has lifted people in need and that will never be erased.
It’s such a blessing that Chi Chi got to spend her second life with the most remarkable family.
Her story is one that will continue to move mountains. Chi Chi is an example of a true hero who defied all the odds of her situation. Chi Chi’s fearless spirit lives on forever!
