Rescue senior Chihuahua said to “hate kids” has life turned around meeting two little girls
It’s quite tricky to manage a household with both kids and pets.
Caring for a senior pet and having a happy family simultaneously is more challenging.
But Maria handled it successfully.
Maria and her family adopted an abused senior chihuahua.
The people at the rescue shelter said that the dog was difficult to handle and didn’t like to be around kids.
But it was just the opposite.
The adopted pet loved Maria’s kids, and they spent most of the time together.
They named their adopted chihuahua Winston Shingledecker.
Winston and Maria’s daughters bond over almost everything. Whether it was naps or mealtime, the Shingledecker girls wanted to share it with their beloved pet dog.
Winston enjoys his day just chilling with them. He adores the kids a lot.
He was abused physically and emotionally.
Winston did not have a happy life before knowing Maria’s family. The chihuahua had multiple injuries back when he was still at the rescue center.
He went blind in one eye.
This occurred when another dog at the center bit him.
He had so much loneliness that Maria and her family wanted him to feel loved for the rest of his life.
Adopting a dog who is already in his senior year poses a lot of challenges.
Though taking care of a senior chihuahua may be difficult, Maria is determined to make Winston happy for his remaining days.
She wants him to erase all his miserable experiences and replace them with happy memories.
Taking care of a senior dog requires financial and environmental changes.
Senior dogs like Winston require more frequent veterinarian visits than most dogs in order to note their special needs due to their aging body.
They may also need a special diet and assistance, which would require additional monetary demand.
But they are so worth it.
In addition, the whole family should adapt to the changes needed to give your pet a more comfortable environment.
Pets in their senior years would be less active and perceptive, so adjustments should be made to make it easier for them to move around your house.
Installing night lights, food bowl location, and carpeting are just factors you need to consider for your old pet, which could elevate their living in tiny ways.
Maria and her family were determined to make Winston part of their family.
Despite the sacrifices needed to make it comfortable for him to live with them, they still decided to have him in their home.
It just shows that their love is much greater than all the difficulties that they had to face.
And their method worked.
Winston is very thankful that he finally found a family.
The love between Winston and Maria’s family radiates and is witnessed by those who watch their videos.
One of the viewers said, “He has been waiting so long for his human sole mate! Finally she’s here!”
Another one commented, “It’s all about the owners. If you show love they’ll love and be loyal back.”
Indeed, pets feel what their owners feel, just like Maria’s daughters and Winston.
