Child abandons their beloved puppy at a park with a heartbreaking note
Decisions in life aren’t always the easiest – especially when they are difficult and meaningful ones. Not too long ago, one boy was faced with a terrible decision involving his very best friend.
Mascotas Coyoacán (an animal shelter) received a call that a dog was chained up to a park bench with no food or water.
The dog wouldn’t let anyone near him, even those doing their best to feed him. As they got closer to the pup, it was soon obvious that he was left there intentionally. A note stuck to a rock was sitting next to the dog, and its contents were heartbreaking:
“Hello, please, adopt me, I’m Max. Please, I’m asking you to adopt this little dog and take good care of him. It hurts a lot to leave my dog here, but I took this decision because my family is always mistreating/abusing him and it made me so sad to see him suffering in those bad conditions. So, if you read this and you feel your heart, please, adopt him and take good care of him. If not, please, leave this note where it was, so others can read it and adopt him. Thanks.”
Max was just a puppy, and the boy had done something terribly hard.
It all made a bit more sense now that the note was clear. Max wasn’t aggressive; he was just a puppy who had been mistreated and was terrified by the surroundings and new people.
After two hours of work, they were finally able to get him used to people and on a leash.
The first order of business for the pup was to change his name!
“The first thing I said was that we had to change his name which, according to the note, was Max. Since he was such a battered puppy, we would have to change his karma by changing the name. So Boston was his name now.”
Slowly but surely, the team’s love and care began to work on Boston.
He was terrified and hid behind the seat when they finally got him in the car. It was probably the first time the pup had ever known kindness from humans, and he didn’t know how to respond!
Marcela, the woman who saved him, was like an angel for Boston.
He totally opened up as he learned that life wasn’t just pain – it could be full of love and happiness, too! After a week with Marcela, Boston went to an intensive training program to get him ready for adoption. He learned basic training and was soon confident and ready for someone to fall in love with him.
After a near adoption, the shelter is just waiting for the right person to come along and fall in love with him.
