Some adults enjoy mediums typically marketed to children, such as cartoons and comic books.

But the reverse can be true, too. Some kids love content seemingly beyond their years, generally intended for adult audiences.

A little child rides along with his mother, buckled into a kid’s car seat. Everything’s normal – well, for at least a few moments.

Mom, a huge fan of gospel, throws on “Better Than Blessed” by Louise “Candy” Davis.

Backseat Baby, steeped in anticipation, knows exactly what’s coming.

The song’s mellow instrumental organ introduction piques Backseat Baby’s interest. He knows what’s up – just look at his eyes.

He looks out the window for a few moments before turning to the camera in excitement.

He looks shocked – like he can’t believe what he hears.

The swelling instrumentation builds, with lyrics lurking soon behind.

Backseat Baby gazes out the opposite window, contemplating his existence.

He’s relaxed, enjoying the ride. But something’s on his mind.

Mom zooms the camera for a closer look. The song builds tension. It’s a powerful piece, and it’s just begun.

Backseat Baby hears something rather familiar. He’s sure of it, turning his head exactly as Davis’s booming vocals finally kick in.

Mouth ajar, he proceeds to sing along.

Oh my, is Backseat Baby a gospel fan? Seems like it. His tastes extend beyond nursery rhymes.

Backseat Baby continues to sing along to Davis’s incredibly positive lyrics. Despite the phonetic complexity, he doesn’t let his young age hold him back,

“I’m blessed /

Better than blessed /

Praise the Lord.”

He’s simply into the music.

Better Than Blessed” must be one of his favorite songs. He knows it like the back of his hand.

The gospel singing continues,

“I’m blessed /

Better than blessed /

Praise the Lord. /

I may not have houses and wealth /

I may not have all my strength and health /

But I’m blessed /

Better than blessed /

Praise the Lord.”

The lyrics are incredibly positive and uplifting, even to the secular ear.

Backseat Baby begins belting, looking towards the heavens.

He knows every single word of the song, even the difficult diction.

I’m impressed, especially considering there’s no way he’s more than a few years old. Mom must be incredibly proud of her son.

He’s got good taste. And so does his mom.

Backseat Baby looks out the window yet again, likely contemplating life and the universe to one of his favorite tunes. Maybe he’s wondering when the ride will finally end.

He takes a vocal break to just listen, letting the sound waves shower him in the backseat.

The song slips back into heavy organ instrumentation. The piece sounds heavenly. The performance is quiet noteworthy – Davis’s vocals are comparable to legendary soul singer Aretha Franklin. Her range and volume are incredible.

Backseat Baby seems like a pretty cool dude. Not every baby loves gospel. Heck, most babies couldn’t even pronounce half the lyrics to the song. His music tastes (and vocabulary) are well beyond his years.

Backseat Baby seems much more mature than his average baby peers. His mother’s clearly had a huge hand in his development. She likely has much, much more in store for him as the years go by. If she’s already got him hooked on gospel, just imagine his tastes in a few years.

He could be listening to nursery rhymes, but he prefers gospel. He’s already well on his way to adulthood.
