We always think we know better, but if we give children a chance to speak their minds, they can surprise you.

Their answers to life questions or society’s problems may be too innocent, but when you ponder it, it makes perfect sense.

And these elementary school children had that beautiful innocence that resulted in a bigger movement.

A dozen students for Elm Street School discussed homelessness in their class, and for their project, their teacher asked them how they could solve this.

They thought of building a tiny house, especially for a veteran and his wife living in their camper damaged by fire.

Eddie and Cindy Browning had been living in the cold for months, and Christmas was not looking good for them.

They said they’ve been freezing inside their camper because their heating no longer worked.

It felt like no end was in sight for this inconvenience as winter came in.

The schoolchildren worked hard to build the tiny house in time for Christmas but had one big roadblock.

They couldn’t find a place where it was legal to place or park a tiny home.

Their teachers looked for different cities in the state to park the tiny house.

However, each city has unique laws for tiny homes; some don’t have clear rules, while others ban them.

But kind-hearted people noticed the school’s effort, and help soon came their way.

Blessings poured in as volunteers gathered to find a place to park their tiny home and build a bigger house for the veteran.

The people were inspired by the children’s actions and intent. See what kids can do?

The Georgia Tiny House Festival organizers and Ooh La La Lavender Farms stepped in to help.

They constructed a larger home in addition to what the school children built, complete with electricity, plumbing, heating, and all the amenities.

It has a double bed, a toilet and shower, a kitchen, and a dining space.

All of this was done with the help of sponsors, donors, and volunteers.

It was time to surprise Eddie and Cindy, and the kids were there at the festival to show them their gift.

They were in awe with their new home, and more so at the fact that the school children started all these.

It took that step for the rest of the community to pitch in and make this dream come true.

The couple never had to worry about living out in the cold anymore.

With tears in his eyes, Eddie told FOX 5:

“I don’t have the words to tell you what we feel.”

Their new home has everything they need, and it’s simply lovely.

The tiny home the kids built was attached to the main house as their second bedroom.

More importantly, it will remain as a reminder that these kids may have tiny hands, but they have bigger hearts.

The gift doesn’t end there!

Because the children’s success inspired them, Elm Street Elementary teachers and school officials plan to build one tiny home each year so they can give it to a family in need.
