Children's choir invokes chills while singing 'You Raise Me Up'
Choral arrangements always get me. They usually accompany hard-hitting emotional moments and have a way of using the symphony of voices to sound aethereal and reverberating.
If you want to feel some goosebumps (gooseflesh, for all the weirdos out there), check this video out. It is the Color Music Childrenâs Choir performing the song, âYou Raise Me Upâ.
Who is the Color Music Childrenâs Choir?
Hailing from Ukraine, the Color Music Childrenâs Choir is an amateur team that has been singing for quite some time. Besides their website singing to you every time you click a new tab (check it out for real), it says:
Color Music Was founded in 2006 by Elena and Alexander Petrikov in the Palace of Children and Youth of the Leninsky District of Dnipropetrovsk. The studio is attended by children in four age groups, who have a unique opportunity to master skills not only in vocal art, but also in other disciplines.
In this video, in particular, the choir is mostly made up of young, elementary kids with incredible voices.
You Raise Me Up
This song has been used in countless movies and shows and is known as an uplifting piece that really goes after the vocals. It has been covered by hundreds of artists and choirs over the years, resulting in almost everyone knowing it. Written by Irish duo, Secret Garden, the some came to popularity after being covered by Josh Groban and Selah, respectively.
This cover by Color Music is incredibly special and uplifting
While many have covered this song, there is something special about this particular rendition of it. It seems that others thought so as well, with the video receiving almost 4 million views on YouTube.
Opening up in a garden, the voices match the beauty of the environment.
The video opens up with all of the kids standing in a semicircle around their teacher. Wearing matching purple and gold outfits, the kids are incredibly cute as they sing. The environment seems to be some type of orchard or garden. The green surroundings do a great job of reinforcing the gentleness and stillness of the song.
After a few moments, the choir really begins to show off their talent.
Coming in with a sweeping key change two-thirds of the way through the song, the choir raises their hands as they jump keys. If you didnât get goosebumps during the first part of the song, you will now. They do such an incredible job of creating harmony and unison at exactly the right moments.
They have more than just one song out.
Looking at their YouTube channel is time well invested! From songs like âSomething Just Like Thisâ and more, they do a great job of utilizing their talents. One of the cool things about Color Music is that they are an amateur team! This means that they are open for other people to join!
Gentle and powerful, these kids remind you of the innocence and hope in the world through their singing.
After watching the song, you canât help but feel; uplifted and inspired by their talent and innocence. It is always a good reminder to see such young, talented people in the world living out their dream!
