Child doesn't know that parent is watching when told he can only choose one gift

Experiments involving children isn’t anything new. But once in a while creators come up with something that not only touches your heart but also surprises you. This happens to be one of those. In this case, kids were given a choice of what to do with two gifts placed in front of them. What you’re about to witness watching this video proves that kids have much bigger hearts than we give them credit for.

This experiment really puts kids to the test.

Now, let’s be honest. If someone placed two gifts in front of you, saying you could keep one and give the other one to your parents, you’d probably feel tempted to take the one for yourself. But the kids who participated in this experiment made what could’ve been a tough decision seem easy. Every one of them knew what they wanted to do.

Everyone loves colorful wrapped presents at Christmastime.

Between the spirit of Christmas, the beautifully wrapped gifts, and the anticipation of what’s inside makes passing on a gift really hard. Especially since much of the holiday season is about receiving. But this experiment focused more on giving and what school-aged kids would do when faced with a difficult choice.

The experiment started by asking what the kids hoped to get this Christmas and what they’d like to give to their moms and dads.

All of the children had quick responses. But the next part of the experiment was more challenging. Sure enough, the organizers placed two presents in front of them. What surprised everyone was how fast the kids chose the present for their parents. They didn’t even hesitate for a minute.

Not a single kid wavered.

Not one child involved with the experiment even considered keeping the gift for themselves. When asked why they selected the one for their parents, one kid had the perfect answer. “Because Legos don’t matter, your family matters. Not Legos, not toys, your family. So, it’s either family or Legos. And I choose family.” Okay, you can now pull out a box of tissue to wipe the tears from your eyes.

They all had remarkable responses to the same question “why?”

Another child stated, “I get gifts every year from my family, but mom don’t get anything.” Yet another small boy responded with, “If I get the laptop my mom will lose something. She helps me when I’m sick, she helps me with my homework. They look out for me and do stuff for me, so I need to give back to them.”

But the organizers had a nice surprise for the kids who participated in the experiment.

Listening outside from another room, all the parents heard what their children had to say. As expected, they were all overjoyed with just how selfless their kids were. It’s obvious that they raised them right.

These kids set an example of what really matters at Christmastime. It’s not about receiving gifts but giving them. Even the people from UP TV who organized the experiment were moved to tears of happiness. The fact is that most kids do have really big hearts and they love their parents more than anything else.
