Chili lime watermelon fries are the perfect summertime snack

The potato gave us one the best inventions to ever grace this planet. French fries. There is something magical about the little golden sticks that bring us so much joy. As far as health goes, they aren’t on the top of the list (or even near the top)! Thankfully, french fries have lots of cousins that we can hang out with. There are apple fries, chicken fries, and carrot fries!

Making “fries” out of something is super easy. There is always a method and a way to get that familiar shape with a slightly different food than potatoes. These incredible summer finger foods are made with watermelon instead of potato!

Here are the ingredients:

This snack is super simple to make and only requires a few things that are in almost every grocery store in the summer.

You are going to need half a small seedless watermelon that is ripe, lime seasons, chili powder, and salt. If you want, you can also use premade chili lime seasoning that you can find at the store.

The directions:

Cut your seedless watermelon in half. Make sure it’s ripe because nobody wants bitter fruit. Once it’s in half, use a paring knife or petty knife to slice the flesh into in long thin strips. You have control here so if you want fries, go for it! You could also do fun shapes like stars if you want.

Once you slice the watermelon, gently toss the shapes in a bowl with the seasoning to coat them. If you are feeling extra special, you can zest a lime on top of them.

Once you toss them, you are ready to serve!

No fry is complete without a sauce to dip them in. A super easy one is to combine Greek yogurt, honey, and a pinch of chili powder for a honey yogurt sauce! You can always experiment and try whatever works best for you.
