People are baking tiny chocolate chip cookies and turning it into cereal – TikTok's new, hot food trend
Although 2020 has delivered a fair share of chaos, mayhem, and disorder, people have not let this prevent them from tapping into their creative sides.
With all of the extra time on our hands, there has been no shortage of imagination and invention – especially in the kitchen.
In the past couple of months, we’ve witnessed some of the most intriguing (and delicious!) food trends ever.
Not too long ago we embraced the luxurious Dalgona coffee as we dealt with the temporary loss of visiting our favorite coffee shops. Following up, the entire world seemed to experience a homemade bread-baking revival (sourdough starters, anyone?) all at once. And more recently, the denizens of the internet gave us something to really think about – cereal made from tiny pancakes.

Impressive, right? All at once, our latest quarantine obsessions seem justified.
Nothing seems better than a bite-sized bowl of pillowy pancakes suspended in a heavenly stratosphere of milk, syrup, and butter.
But just when you thought things couldn’t get more delectable, someone had to introduce the ultimate breakfast: cereal made from tiny chocolate chip cookies.
Yes, yes. Perhaps visions of Cookie Crisp dance across your head. But do remind yourself, this is 2020 after all. Imagine everything you love in a freshly-baked cookie wrapped up into a version of breakfast you never knew your quarantine needed. Until now. And it turns out, it might just be the only thing it ever needs again.
Justin Schuble, the mastermind behind the TikTok and Instagram food account @dcfoodporn, shared the how-to video across his platforms this past week and took the internet by storm.
His recipe boasts a very simple formula that yields a simply delicious and mouthwatering outcome. The best part? You probably have most of the ingredients on hand.
Schuble revealed to Insider:
“There is something so cute and Insta-worthy about mini cookies,” he said. “And baking them is a great way to pass the time at home. There are certain ingredients that we all have at home — like eggs and flour — and I think a lot of the trends are coming from people adding their own twist to what they can find in their kitchen.”
This crave-worthy breakfast can be yours in a matter of quick and easy steps! Are you as ready to make it as we are?
When Schuble found out how much popularity his recipe had gained he was sure to post an update to ensure your outcome would be just as smooth and delicious. His instructions are as follows:
“1. Cut your cookie dough into even pieces. You want to make sure they bake evenly or else some will burn and others will be undercooked. Instead of rolling them into balls, just round the edges. And add an extra chocolate chip on top for a prettier final product.
2. Bake at 350F for about 7 minutes (cookies will still be a little soft). Let them sit on the counter and harden for a few minutes.
3. Add a few spoonfuls of your mini cookies to a bowl and enjoy with milk. To avoid getting all the cookies soggy at once, only add a few bites to your bowl at a time.
4. Try it with ice cream as a dessert!
5. Get creative! You can make any type of cookie into cookie cereal. Doesn’t have to be chocolate chip!”
