9 photos of hummingbirds' wings reveal magical rainbow of colors
Mother Nature is full of magnificent surprises.
It’s quite difficult not to be swept off your feet when adoring nature’s beauty. If that’s simply a butterfly soaring in your backyard or a bunny rabbit munching on the grass, they deserve to be appreciated. Nature & wildlife photographers are able to capture once in a lifetime moments with plants and wildlife that can be cherished forever.
This Australian photographer/artist Christian Spencer has developed a deep connection with the world around him.
Spencer has been creating with all different art forms such as painting, cinema, and photography for over 20 years, all having one thing in common… Inspired by Mother Earth herself.
Spencer has been living in Brazil working within the mountains of Rio de Janeiro State among the Atlantic Rainforest. With only a small amount of the Atlantic Rainforest that remains it has one of the most diverse ecosystems on the planet. The Atlantic Rainforest is where Spencer roams through nature’s playground to discover sights most people have never seen before.
Spencer’s perspective is as pure as it gets without retouching or photoshopping any of his images.
He reveals nature for exactly what it is… real.
One of Spencer’s most captivating photographs has been the way light diffracts through the wings of a hummingbird, which results in a rainbow of color seen within its wings. As the Jacobin hummingbird is mid-flight Spencer has captured them crossing the sun at an impeccable moment.
The magical rainbow shines through their wings due to the prism effect.
The light bounces off of the Black Jacobin Hummingbird oh so perfectly that it shows a brilliant array of colors. Hummingbirds are a very elusive species flying at 25-30mph. They don’t stick around too long as they zip from flower to flower and all throughout the air. It’s quite rare to see a hummingbird hang around for anything longer than a couple of minutes.
The photographs Spencer has taken of these hummingbirds give people the opportunity to enjoy this precious species for lifetimes.
Spencer has been fascinated by these precious hummingbirds for several years. In 2011 Spencer recorded the magic of these hummingbirds wings to include in his film “Dance Of Time”. The film encapsulated the hearts of International cinema festivals winning 10 awards!
Spencer revisited the wonderous discovery through photography capturing these outstanding images. These rainbow hummingbird photographs have inspired audiences all over the world, Spencer even told Modern Met,
“I receive emails every day from people across the world touched by these images”
The power of these photographs has spoken for themselves.
These hummingbirds have truly made our hearts flutter with joy. When more and more people find a deep fascination with nature it can help protect certain species that could be in danger. With Spencer’s genuine photography style it brings a window into the world among the forest.
