You can make a cute mini-greenhouse for plants using a clear umbrella
Greenhouses are pretty to have, but they’re kind of a luxury that most of us can’t afford. After all, plant-keeping is no easy hobby. If only there was a way to make a downsized, affordable greenhouse. Think, a doll house version of one.
Well, you’re in luck because that happens to be a thing!
People can get mighty creative when they’re deep into a hobby, and plant keeping is no exception. A ton of folks have figured out that you don’t need big, support structures or dozens of square meters to make a greenhouse.
All you need is a clear umbrella.
Yes, the translucent kind that you can see the rain through.
Translucent designs can still look great, even though it’s not the early to mid-2000s anymore.
Umbrellas, though, are one of the few things that can still rock the translucent look. Plus, isn’t it neat to be able to see the raindrops from under there? We’ve all wanted to look up at the rain without the hassle of getting wet, and this is just what we needed.
But they’ve got another use besides that, as it would turn out!
With the translucent design, the UV light can come right in through the umbrella, but won’t be escaping too easily on the way back.
This makes it the perfect tool to build a mini-greenhouse!
And it’s not a complicated DIY thing either. No sir, all it takes is removing the little handle at the bottom of the umbrella (not the whole support rod, mind you. Just the part your hand grips), and sticking the umbrella into the pot.
With its shaft firmly embedded in the soil, its canopy is free to outstretch and cover any plant in the pot.
You now have a mini greenhouse!
And don’t doubt that it works too.
Of course, you should take very careful note of which plants will appreciate the humidity. Some leafy friends aren’t too keen on humidity – so be sure to do your research first. The general rule is that plants from naturally hot and humid places should be fine!
Lots of people have hopped on the umbrella greenhouse bandwagon already.
To some, it’s way more practical to have your plants housed in small, personal greenhouses rather than have all of them under one big one. Though if you’ve got the budget, time, and commitment to have a full-sized greenhouse built, then no one’s stopping you.
Still, can’t deny that they’re practical and pretty cute.
They’ll easily keep your plants safe during cold months too!
With that said, I’m sure a ton of people would love to know more about this. Translucent umbrellas are easy to find, and at least someone you know loves to keep plants. Give this article a share and tag some of them!
