Crowd anxiously watches Clydesdale after intense rodeo tangle-up leads to fall
Be prepared for the unexpected when dealing with animals.
The primary difficulty of working with them is their inability to communicate their needs verbally.
Even the most experienced handlers can encounter difficulties.
One audience held their breath.
An unsettling situation was unfolding right in front of them.
While Budweiser’s Clydesdales are known for their teamwork, they are still susceptible to becoming tangled up on occasion.
The Budweiser Clydesdales are among the most renowned animal teams globally. This reputation enables them to participate in events involving other animals.
In this event, the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo featured the Clydesdales.
Hundreds of people were excited to watch the show, the stadium had become very busy.
During their introduction to the crowd, two horses became visibly restless.
The leading duo started to pivot
The rest of the horses followed.
The situation escalated rapidly, catching the handlers off guard.
Thankfully the handlers know what to do in times like this and proceeded to handle the situation professionally
The pair attempted to squeeze through the gap between the second and third horses.
In a matter of moments, the straps and yokes caused the herd to become entangled.
Weighing between 1,800 to 2,300 pounds, the horses toppled onto each other, causing concern for onlookers.
Handlers who were not on the field quickly responded, working to prevent the rest of the herd from becoming agitated.
Although the incident did not escalate into a full-blown stampede, the audience became uneasy.
The announcer reassured them that while unexpected, the situation was not outside the handlers’ expertise, in an attempt to calm the crowd.
It was a dicey situation.
“Anytime you are in the rodeo business, the livestock business, when you are working with animals you never know what can happen,” the announcer stated in the video.
The straps became so entangled that the handlers had to remove them from the horses for their safety.
The footage continued, displaying the handlers working to free the horses one pair at a time.
Meanwhile, the other team members tended to the horses that had fallen.
To provide additional space for the fallen horse to recuperate, the two other pairs and the wagon were moved aside.
In the video’s final moments, the spectators erupted into applause as the horse stood up once again.

This unexpected turnabout became a masterclass in how to keep calm and deal with such a situation.
A team of veterinarians was called in to carefully check the horses.
Thankfully, none of the horses were injured.
Anheuser-Busch, the company responsible for the Budweiser brand, confirmed that none of the horses were harmed in a statement.
The company stated, “The safety and well-being of our beloved Clydesdales is our top priority.”
Doing so reassured the audience that nothing too tragic had happened to the people, or to the horses.
The company went on to state: “Combined with our highly trained staff of professional caretakers, we partner with an equine medical expert to ensure our animals receive the highest level and quality of care.”
The introduction of the Clydesdales dates back to April 1933 when individuals commemorated the end of Prohibition.
At present, three teams are touring the United States to continue their rich tradition.
