It’s always a great moment when a family member gets to meet a newborn for the first time, even if the family member is a bird.

Buttons has always had a huge personality. His owners had no idea how he would react to no longer being the center of attention when their baby arrived.

Eventually, the day came when they had to introduce Buttons to baby Ananya.

So they gently picked buttons up and led him to the sleeping newborn.

The parrot couldn’t believe his eyes. He immediately squawked out loud, wanting to introduce himself to her.

Ananya’s mom and Buttons’s owner told the parrot to quieten down. After all, there would be plenty of times when Ananya was awake in the future!

But Buttons kept on squawking, so the owner and mom decided to introduce them later when Buttons was a little calmer.

Later, Ananya was sleeping soundly once more. Buttons had worn himself out by flying all around the home.

So the owner brought the parrot closer to the baby.

This time, Buttons kept on staring at Ananya. Clearly, he was coming to terms with how cute she was.

Then the feathers on the top of his head lifted up. This was a sign that the animal was excited. Buttons could tell that his owner had just given birth to the baby.

Next, the bird started making light humming noises, as if he were going, “Awwww.”

The owner then asked Buttons, “What do you say to your baby sister?”

The parrot replied, “Hi, baba.”

Then the owner asked if they should keep Ananya. Buttons started nodding his head back and forth rapidly. The parrot was excited to have a new family member around!

The owner and mother then asked Buttons what they would call the baby.

The parrot replied with a strange noise. Good suggestion, but perhaps something that humans could pronounce would be better?

The next question for the parrot was, “What does your baby sister look like?” The parrot responded with, “Meow.” To this bird, newborns must look just like cats!

Luckily, a video of this meeting then appeared on YouTube. It soon went viral. To date, it has gained over 2.4 million views. It also has 48,000 likes and 2,500 comments. People have been saying things like this:

Buttons is a cockatoo parrot. As the video shows, these birds are energetic and highly affectionate animals. They form incredibly close bonds with their owners and even like to cuddle up with them. You can bet that in no time, Buttons would be cuddling Ananya!

The downside to cockatoos is that they tend to be less talkative than other parrots. But as Buttons proves, they are able to talk and mimic speech/sounds.

Another potential downside to cockatoos is that they’re often obsessed with chewing on things. That means that they need a lot of toys that they can chew up. You can bet that some of Ananya’s toys are going to be chewed up by Buttons in the coming years!

On the whole, Ananya is a very lucky baby. Not only does she have two loving parents, but she also has an affectionate, unusual pet to look after her.
