Cold and sick cat knocks on woman's door to ask for help

Animals don’t communicate the same way humans do. This is why they have a hard time telling people how they feel or what they need.

When a stray cat found himself in great trouble, he did the only thing he could do to get someone’s attention- to knock on doors.

When a woman heard the noise, she thought it was nothing. However, when she looked at her front door, she saw a sick and cold orange tabby.

At first glance, she knew the poor cat needed help.

Being a foster volunteer working with a kitten rescue in Quebec, the woman knew exactly what to do. She took a photo of the cat and sent it to Marie Simard, the founder of Un Chat à la Fois.

Marie who has a soft spot for animals responded:

“As soon as I saw the picture it broke my heart, and I told her to take him to our partner clinic so he could be evaluated.”

And that’s exactly what the woman did.

In just 10 minutes, the cat was already at the clinic. The woman had no problems taking the cat there. He was so gentle and sweet.

“He went into the carrier by himself and once he got to the vet, he was very easy-going, he let the vet do the checkup, the blood test and X-rays, the cat was not feral at all,” Marie said.

At the clinic, everyone thought he was a lost cat because he was too friendly.

However, he didn’t have a microchip. The group had to check everywhere to find its owners but failed. Considering those things, they simply assumed that the poor cat was left behind by its owners.

After being thoroughly examined there, the vet found out that the cat needed help badly. Apart from the ticks and fleas all over his body, he was also suffering from rotten teeth and frostbite. Plus, he had diabetes, too!

His blood work was awful so he was confined in the hospital for a few days. He had surgery for his teeth as well as his eyes. If it wasn’t for the woman, the poor cat could not have survived the cold weather.

Even though he was suffering, the cat showed his gratefulness. He was super nice to everyone.

Marie shared:

“He was very nice to the employees at the clinic. He would take his paw out of the cage at the vet so that people would pet him.”

The cat was named Aslan and it was the perfect name for him.

Just a few days after getting treated at the clinic, the cat’s health dramatically improved. He recovered and was able to find a foster home. There, he was able to make a strong bond not just with his foster mom but her cat, too.

“He’s a very affectionate cat. He likes to sleep close to his foster mom,” Marie said.

Eventually, Aslan’s foster family asked if he could stay with them for good.

Marie agreed. She didn’t have any reason to say no.

She shared:

“He had become friends with 2 rescue cats, Cleo and Jasmin. Jasmin sadly passed away, but Aslan is very close to Cleo. Aslan has a special diet due to his diabetes, but he likes food! In fact, his mom needs to closely watch her own plates because Aslan would not hesitate to steal her food. Sometimes, she makes an exception and gives him a treat.”
