These teens were happy to have finished high school. And they were even happier when their routine went viral!

When you finally finished high school, didn’t you just want to dance for joy?

These teens wanted to, so they did. But they didn’t do any old dance. They had spent weeks perfecting a routine to the Forbidden Dance by Kaoma.

The routine began with the boys and girls standing on opposite sides of the playground. Then they danced closer to one another.

Then they lifted their arms up and down in the air.

The men held onto the women’s waists as they kept on dancing.

Then the women held their hands into the air again.

Next, the women took the men’s hands and held one hand to their stomachs and the other hand into the air.

They all moved backward and forward in this position.

The women then danced even closer to the men.

Then the women split off from the men, and everyone danced in the same direction.

The women went back to the men. Then the men lifted them into the air, and the women perched onto the men’s torsos.

The women kept on moving.

Then the women jumped back onto the ground.

Finally, they all formed one long conga line and started moving through the playground.

When they finished dancing, the crowd cheered them. But they would get even more acclaim soon.

The video then appeared on YouTube, where it soon went viral.

To date, it has gained over 17 million views. It also has more than 59,000 likes and 1,600 comments. People have been saying things like this:

It just goes to show how popular The Forbidden Dance still is all these years later.

And how many dances have been so popular that they’ve had not one but two movies made about them?

And what’s even more amazing is that both of those movies, one called The Forbidden Dance and the other called Lanbada, were both released on the very same day in March 1990.

If you’re desperate to watch a movie about The Forbidden Dance, but you’ve only got time to watch one, then you should go for Lambada. Lambada got both better reviews and made more money in theaters than The Forbidden Dance. The Forbidden Dance only holds a 23% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and only made $1.8 million at the box office. But Lambada on the other hand has a 47% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It also made $4.2 million at the box office.
