Sweet compilation of dogs meeting babies for the first time

Dogs are pack creatures, meaning that once they find their family, that furry canine will devote himself to them for life. He will be loving and protective so long as he gets love back.

It’s no surprise that they get apprehensive when a stranger comes by. They don’t know the person, hence they get overly protective at times.

Which isn’t that different at all when there’s a newcomer.

Moms and dads will eventually bring home their little bundle of joy, which will always affect the dog.

The poor dog will have to deal with an overwhelming sense of new sights, sounds and smells thanks to the baby.

Now some dogs may find that upsetting, especially if they didn’t really have many opportunities to spend time with kids when they were puppies.

The daily routine will have to change with the new baby so a dog’s schedule will change as well. Like it or not, the dog will get less of everyone’s time and attention.

It may be a difficult time since dogs are used to being the “only child” for a long time.

These adorable canines are actually super excited to meet the newest addition to the family!

And that’s all down to dogs being social creatures thanks to that pack mentality.

Alexandra Bassett is a lead dog trainer and behaviorist at Dog Savvy Los Angeles. She says,

“All dogs have a mating drive and den instincts; it’s part of what’s called their ‘pack drive.’” When a dog has a strong pack drive and is tightly bonded with his family, it’s only natural that he becomes protective of a new baby when he or she arrives.”

That’s good news alright.

Just look at how eager these dogs are to see the little human. Some sniff, some pant, some just can’t help it so they jump and jump as if already wanting to play with the baby.

It’s safe to say that dogs adore babies, since there seems to be an instant connection that no one can put a finger on.

These dogs are just smitten with the tiny humans!

We can all agree that dogs have feelings and that they can pick up on our emotions as well.

They surely know that babies are vulnerable, and that when they cry or are in trouble, those babies will need their help. And a dog will defend their humans to the death.

Also, when a dog sniffs or licks a baby’s face or rear end, it’s their way of checking the baby’s health. It will alarm parents, so just fair warning. Do wipe the baby after.
