Woman suffers from unknown illness for 10 years until contractors find what’s making her sick
Being sick is hard. Apart from the physical signs and symptoms, you’ll also have to deal with missing days at work, not being able to be around family and friends on special occasions, and feeling down all the time. Now, imaging experiencing all of those things for 10 years.
Kathi Wilson, a 41-year-old woman, has seen dozens of doctors.
For 10 years, she tried looking for that one reason why her physical condition was deteriorating. She was suffering and she wanted to know why it was happening to her.
She underwent all kinds of tests and took various medications.
From chest X-rays to cardiac testing, she underwent them all. Unfortunately, after seeing lots of doctors and spending money on tons of tests, no one was able to give her an answer.
Over 10 years, Kathi struggled physically.
She’s usually asleep on most days. It was her body’s attempt to fight fatigue and mental distress. She started to walk with a cane because she didn’t have energy all the time. Even though she was just 41 years old, she felt like an old lady.
Then, something happened.
Two men were able to give Kathi a diagnosis. And the most surprising part? They weren’t doctors. They weren’t even healthcare workers.
Kathi’s nightmare ended when she decided to get a new bathroom.
She wanted to have her own sanctuary where she could retreat to whenever she wanted. Because of that, she hired contractors to make it happen for her.
The contractors went to work.
They started to redo most of the parts of her bathroom. They added modern tiles and revamped her water heater.
It’s when they came to that part that they made a startling discovery.
After careful inspection, the contractors found out that Kathi’s old heater was installed incorrectly. And as a result, the tank started leaking poisonous gas into her home.
Kathi’s contractors didn’t realize how severe the issue was until they delivered the news.
After hearing what they had to say, she was finally able to realize why she was experiencing all of her symptoms. At that moment, she felt a sense of hope.
After seeing her doctor and getting treated, Kathi finally got back on her feet.
With renewed vigor, she ditched the cane. She can even go on walks with her daughter without feeling fatigued. She’s emotionally and mentally better, too.
In an interview with Inside Edition, she shared:
“I felt great. Mentally, I haven’t been this happy in I couldn’t tell you how long.”
Carbon Monoxide poisoning is more common than you think.
In the U.S alone, it kills more than 400 people. It sends more than 20,000 people into emergency rooms while 4,000 people get admitted and hospitalized.
To make sure you don’t go through what Kathi experienced, always get your water heater, furnace, and other gas-burning appliances checked by professionals annually.
As much as possible, avoid using portable flameless chemical heaters when you’re indoors. It’s not a good idea to use a gas oven to keep your home warm, too.
