Video shows security guard taking selfies with K9, adorably stopping to show him each one

K9 units can come across as fearsome beasts. But this story also shows their lighter, lovable side.

Dogs are dogs. That may sound like an obvious statement. But k9-units can sometimes come in for a lot of flack, meaning that people forget that they’re just as lovable as any other pooch.

It’s understandable why so many people fear them. After all, most of the time on the news, they’re seen chasing down criminals. But there are so many dimensions to them, as this woman has shown.

Gina Anzaldua Stevenson was walking through an airport one day when she saw something adorable. A cop and his K9-unit were on a break. The cop decided to take some selfies with the dog.

Afterward, the cop showed the dog the photos. Stevenson thought that this was so cute that she had to take her own photos of the event. She then approached the cop, Andre Cloyd, and the dog, Zigi, and told them how adorable they were.

With Cloyd’s permission, Stevenson uploaded her pictures onto Facebook, explaining what she had witnessed.

Zigi and Cloyd live in Dallas, Texas. Like all good cops, they work hard and play hard.

Like many K9-units, Zigi lives at Cloyd’s home, meaning that the two officers are not just partners but best buddies.

Cloyd even started a fan page for Zigi and himself. The two have been doing many great things for their community.

For instance, they recently helped out at a local adoption event, where many shelter animals were able to find forever homes.

Cloyd also has another dog, Bentley, who is not a police dog. However, he gets along great with Zigi and loves to accompany his owner and Zigi to non-police related matters.

Zigi is clearly at odds with the stereotype of police dogs. Sure, when he needs to, he is able to chase down criminals. But he’s also just a regular fun-loving dog that adores his owner.

Of course, police dogs need to look strong to keep police officers safe. It’s actually a vital part of a K9-unit’s responsibilities.

There are many documented cases of criminals giving up resistance just from seeing a K9-unit. So their appearance can be just as important as their superior noses or ability to outrun suspects.

Sadly, the intimidating appearance of police dogs means that many people give German Shepherds a wide berth. German Shepherd police dogs like Zigi demonstrate why people should not judge a dog based on its job or breed!
