Airport cop takes selfies of his K9 partner and stops to show him each one

The Dogspotting Society of Facebook is a page that caters to dog lovers, giving its group members a place to hang out and post photos of their beloved canines. Members often connect with each other, creating newfound friendships based on their love of dogs. In one recent post, one member shared a few photos of an airport cop taking selfies with his dog – but it’s what the cop does afterward that is hilarious!

It all started when the member Gina Anzaldua Stevenson decided to take a few photos of her friend Andre Cloyd, who works as a cop at the Dallas Love Field Airport in Texas. On the job, Cloyd works with a K9, named Zigi, who is used to detect drugs and other contraband as travelers move through the busy airport.

Cloyd is nice enough to get his partners approval for each selfie taken

In the pictures, Cloyd can be seen using his smartphone to take selfies of him and Zigi. What is most hilarious of all is that Cloyd then shows partner the selfies, making sure they get the dog’s seal of approval. This adorable interaction speaks to how Cloyd views his partner: not just as a dog that he works with, but as a true friend and companion, whose opinion he greatly values.

Just like Cloyd, other K9 handlers like to take selfies with their partners as well. Here is a selfie from Officer Chris Flatten and his K9 partner Axel, taken as a promotion of seat belt safety. Serving with the Wilmar Police Department in Minnesota, these two both take seat belt safety very seriously!

In this selfie, K9 Bruno receives a treat from his handler, Officer Roger Reynolds, as he prepares to retire after seven years on the force. The eight and a half-year-old Belgian Malinois, from the Czech Republic, served as a narcotics detection dog for a long time. During his time on the force, it is reported that Bruno sniffed out almost 1 million dollars’ worth of drugs!

MWDs like to take selfies too

Like police K9s, Military Working Dogs (MWDs) put their life on the line every day at work. Here is Security Forces K9 Handler Monica Rodrigues and her K9 Stella, taking a selfie while on the job in Korea. Fortunately, Rodriguez was able to adopt Stella, a German shepherd, when the K9 retired from active duty in 2016.
