Cop tells lady to “pop the trunk” after pulling her over and she starts filming
It’s a traffic stop she won’t forget.
When we have an important day ahead of us, the last thing we need is getting pulled over by the cops.
Thatās what happened to Chy-Niece Thacker from Virginia, and itās something no one wants to see themselves in.
But as much as Thacker tried to predict what was about to happen, she was instead blown away by the turn of events.
From panic and frustration, her day became unexpectedly warm.
Thacker was headed for an interview.
It was the last thing she needed.
To stop the situation from worsening than it was, she began rummaging through her car for necessary documents.
However, when Officer Jenkins got close, he assured the driver that she has nothing to worry about.
āAs he walked to the car and I was pulling out my stuff, he quickly said, ‘Don’t worry about pulling anything out,ā she said in her Facebook post.
Confused, Thacker tried to find out what the stop was for.
Officer Jenkins then said he didnāt pull her over for a traffic penalty. Instead, he did so because he wanted to check her brake lights.
The officer said the lights werenāt working. This made Thacker upset because she just had those lights changed just a few weeks before the stop.
She explained that Firestone made her pay $600 just for testing the carās wiring system.
Using an emoji, Thacker shared that Officer Jenkins only looked at her with a kind of stare that was a mix of shock, frustration, and disbelief.
He couldn’t leave her like this.
He asked her to pop the hood
He wanted to double-check that her systems were indeed working.
She said that Officer Jenkins did some routine tests to troubleshoot the problem.
She didnāt share if they made the brake lights come on but it was only the second most important thing for Thacker at that time.
What caught her attention was Officer Jenkinsā instinct.
She said to WTVR CBS6 that instead of giving her a ticket, Officer Jenkins was much more concerned about her safety and the other drivers sheād encountered.
She said that the officer, who said that he doesnāt like anyone slamming behind her car, went above and beyond.
āHe could’ve easily given me a ticket, but Officer Jenkins stepped out of officer role and into mechanic role to make sure I was straight.ā She said in her post.
People also shared their interactions.
āI’ve had a run-in with Officer Jenkins as well!! He did the same for me when I had a tail light out. He gives VA cops a good name.ā said one comment.
āThat’s how itās supposed to be,ā said another. ā’Protect and serve!ā Emphasis on āServeā.ā
āThat’s a sweet gesture. Just when we seem to lose faith we are pleasantly surprised by one of God’s angels who is truly trying to protect and serve,ā added another.
Talk about restoring oneās faith in humanity.
