Klynn Scales grew up with a violent drug-addicted parent. Luckily, Jeff Colvin went above and beyond to ensure that she was ok until she left town abruptly one day.

Childhood should be a happy time. But for Klynn Scales and her brothers, it was awful.

Their mom struggled with drugs and mental illness.

Klynn did not want to break the law. But sometimes, she and her siblings had nothing to eat. So she was forced to rob the nearby 7-Eleven.

But then, when Klynn was nine, someone came into her life who would show her that there was hope. His name was Jeff Colvin.

Colvin heard that Klynn had stolen from the 7-Eleven, so he decided to check up on her.

He was shocked to see just how malnourished she was and rushed her to the hospital.

Luckily, Klynn made a complete recovery.

But soon, she was back home, where the struggles resumed. But now, Colvin was there to help out.

For a while, he used to check up on Klynn and her siblings every single day.

Thanks to his efforts, she and her family were set on the right path. Eventually, he let them manage their own lives and checked up on them less.

“He was that one person that I trusted in my life as a kid.” – Klynn Scales.

Then one day, Klynn decided to leave her family and begin her own independent life.

So she traveled from her home in Kansas City to Texas, hoping to find new opportunities.

Klynn lost contact with everyone from her home city.

But finally, she came to terms with what she had been through. She got back in touch with the people she had left.

The only issue was that she never even learned Colvin’s name. But she was determined to thank him personally.

So she returned to Kansas City. At first, she met up with her family. Then she went on the search for Colvin, without even knowing his name.

Luckily, she was soon able to find a former colleague, Jennifer Jones. Jones told Klynn that she no longer worked with Colvin, but she did know his email. So Klynn sent him an email explaining that she was the little girl that he had helped when she was starving and that she wanted to thank him in person.

Colvin was amazed. All these years later, he still remembered Klynn.

“I had actually thought about her, wondered whatever happened with her.” – Jeff Colvin.

So he responded and said that he would love to meet up with her.

Soon, the two met. Klynn and Colvin shared an emotional reunion. She told him how grateful she was and that he had inspired her to make something of her life.

Colvin couldn’t believe that Klynn, who he had first met as a nine-year-old, was now in her late 20s and was thriving.

Klynn had finally found her hero.

A news report of Klynn and Colvin’s story then appeared online. It soon went viral. To date, it has gained over 1.1 million views. It also has more than 1,400 likes and dozens of comments. People have been saying things like this:

Clearly, many people have been inspired by this story. If only everyone could have a role model like Jeff Colvin!
