Sportscaster holds the only Zoom meeting worth watching – with his two dogs
With most sports on the sideline for the foreseeable future due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many of us are missing our main source of entertainment.
For BBC sportscaster Andrew Cotter, the lack of sports means he can’t do his job.
But Cotter hasn’t given up on his commentating duties. In fact, he’s gone viral twice over the last couple of months for a series of hilarious play-by-plays uploaded to Twitter involving his dogs Olive and Mabel.
On March 27, 2020, he posted his first video, simply captioned, “I was bored,” wherein he narrated Olive and Mabel eating a meal. The suspense he was able to build truly had us riveted to a short clip of the unwitting dogs.

If you think people aren’t interested in such a thing, just know that the short clip of the two Laborador Retrievers has been viewed over 10 million times.
Following up on the success of his first video, Cotter posted a second clip on April 9th of his dogs simply trying to share a toy. And we can vouch for it being hilarious (in case the more than 19 million views don’t convince you).

Now, Cotter has posted a new video that has racked up over 4 million views in just a few days. That’s partly because he’s managed to achieve the impossible – making a Zoom meeting fun (or at least fun to watch).
Mabel and Olive are typical Zoom companions – so most of the moments will look familiar to anyone who has been forced to take part in these virtual meetings.
Someone forgetting to turn on their camera? Check.
The first order of business is to deliver some good news – no one is getting furloughed!
That’s already better than half the Zoom meetings that have taken place this year and the dogs look relieved.
There are, however, some issues that need to be addressed if things are going to continue to go smoothly.
One is Mabel’s lack of focus.
The next is some inappropriate office behavior with Kevin, the doorman.
This seems like it’s going to be a real problem with HR and Mabel doesn’t take the accusation well because she turns off her camera, much to Cotter’s chagrin.
When she gets back on, Cotter goes over the annual report, including bringing up some ruined sofas and many very unsuccessful attempts to catch squirrels.
Once again, Mabel shows her disinterest in constructive criticism.
Meanwhile, Olive is the model employee, even if she is the type to get her face a little too close to the camera.
While Mabel needs to be muted because she’s brought in a squeaky toy (the dog equivalent to not muting yourself when you decide to eat or slurp coffee during a meeting), Olive received some very positive feedback.
In fact, management has decided she has been a very good dog and her reaction is one of great excitement and involves a lot of tail-wagging.
In his final chat with the more problematic employee, Cotter tries to address the behavioral issues with Mabel as she falls asleep.
And then, like the rebel she is, she hangs up on the meeting – but we’re sure she’s just going to blame it on her Wifi connection later.
Cotter mulls over sacking her towards the end of the video, but it looks like we’ll have to wait for the next installment to find out how the second quarter of the year is going to proceed.
