Couple bring newly adopted baby on plane to fly home – then all the passengers start cheering
The new parents were worried that the rest of the passengers would hate them for bringing an infant on the plane. They were delighted to be proved wrong.
After nine years and lots of money, Dustin and Caren Moore learned something amazing: they were going to get to adopt a child.
They had had to wait for so long, but eventually, they were matched with a newborn girl in Colorado. The couple flew in from California to meet her. It was the greatest moment of their lives.
But in a few days, they had to face the first challenge of their new parenthood: braving a flight with their daughter.
So they boarded the plane, smiling to all the passengers, basically pleading with them to be kind to them.
What happened next was so amazing that the new father had to document it on his Twitter feed.
At first, everything was going smoothly. Then the baby girl woke up and needed a diaper change.
A flight attendant cleared out some space at the back of the plane so that the new parents could change the diaper.
After the diaper change, the flight attendant politely asked Dustin why they were traveling with such a young daughter.
The flight attendant, Jenny, was amazed to hear their adoption story and heartily congratulated them. But this was just the start.
A little later, a second flight attendant, Bobby, who had heard about the new adopters from Jenny, went up to congratulate the parents.
After talking to them a little, Bobby walked away.
Then the intercom went on. Bobby’s voice was on the intercom. He said that there was a very special guest on the flight, “She’s just been adopted by her parents, Caren and Dustin, and is making her way home.”
Then everyone on board started cheering and clapping for the happy family. Caren and Dustin really hadn’t been expecting that!
Bobby then announced that he would be handing out pens and napkins to the entire flight so that people could write encouragement or advice for the new parents.
“We sat in speechless gratitude, as people kept peeking over their chairs to congratulate us.” – Dustin Moore.
After a while, the flight attendants collected up the napkins. Before they handed them over to the parents, they read a few of their favorite pieces over the intercom:
“Rub each other’s feet, and rub the baby’s feet”
“Make time for date night.”
“Always tell her you love her.”
“Enjoy every minute. It goes by sooo very fast.”
“Drink lots of wine!”
After the choice quotes, the passengers cheered again.
The attendants handed over around 60 napkins.
Bobby and Jenny then revealed that they were both married. On their honeymoon flight, some other flight attendants had done the same thing with them, only with marriage advice and encouragement instead of parenting advice and encouragement.
When Dustin shared his story on Twitter, it soon went viral.
The first tweet alone has managed to gain over 16,600 retweets. It also has over 3,900 likes and 400 comments. People have been saying things like this:
When Bobby saw that his tweets were taking off, he shared a photo of a scrapbook that he had filled with the flight napkins. He also encouraged everyone to showcase kind strangers when they meet them.
Dustin and Caren have had a rollercoaster of a time recently. It must be very reassuring to know that there are so many people out there who are willing to congratulate and offer advice to them.
