Couple pulls off a $500 wedding with the bride's gown costing $47

How much are you willing to pay for the wedding of your dreams?

Weddings might be the costliest life event a lot of us had or have to spend on. In order to properly execute the day of your dreams, you would have to reign in at least 10 different suppliers and service providers and conduct them like an orchestra you’ve met the first time.

And from the photos, videos, makeup, and the dress alone, you would’ve spent thousands of dollars already. You haven’t even counted the guests yet!

A couple went viral, however, when they spent an unbelievably low price for their wedding.

Dig deep into your memories and think about the lowest-cost wedding you’ve been to. How much was it? $15,000? $10,000? $7,500?

It’s not even close to the values you were thinking. Actually, it’s almost unrealistic. Can you believe that this couple spent less than $1000 on their wedding?

Yes, this couple just spent $500 for their wedding to be exact.

Kiara and Joel Brokenbrough tied the knot without even getting into debt or doing extra hours. But in the end, they got what truly matters – a life of a husband and wife.

For starters, Kiara’s wedding dress was only $47. She found the dress in an online clothing store that sells ready-to-wear clothes. Meanwhile, Joel spent $100 on his suit.

“I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on a dress because I had the mindset I’m going to wear this one time for a few hours,” she said to Good Morning America,

For the location, the couple opted for a freeway spot.

Kiara recalled seeing a certain spot on the Angeles Crest Highway area when she was on her way to a concert with her friends. Since then, she knew it was the place she wanted to get married at.

The location was practically free because the purchase of a public permit starts with groups of 75 or more people. Kiara and Joel, however, only had around 40 guests.

For the reception, they went to Misty’s Lounge in Ontario.

This part might be controversial for some but it’s not a social faux pas entirely – the guests at Kiara and Joel’s wedding paid for their own food and drinks.

Kiara admitted that to be able to pull off a wedding like this, she needs the support of everyone. This means that as guests at their wedding, they are fully aware of and okay with the setup. And it turns out, they are more than okay with it.

Our village is strong. People paid to fly out here to come to a wedding, and they knew if they wanted food and drinks, it’s available for purchase, and they knew that,” said Kiara to FOX LA. “I didn’t hear anyone complain.”

In the end, Kiara and Joel wanted to teach one thing to other couples.

“Couples need to realize that the wedding is about the bride and the groom, first and foremost. It’s not about the people who attend or who is invited,” said Joel to the news outlet.

They said that ultimately, the goal is to tie the knot. If the budget can’t accommodate a big wedding, couples should still do it anyways. The important thing is you get to celebrate with family and friends, and are committed to the life you’ll share afterward.
