Couple buys giant, 14×7-foot custom bed so they can sleep with all of their rescue dogs

If you own dogs, you’d know how awesome it is to sleep next to them. They’re warm and they give this safe and cozy feeling at night. Plus, it makes you feel safe.

While sleeping next to one or two dogs is awesome, trying to sleep next to a dozen dogs is a whole different story.

With several paws and tails, it’s hard to find a nice and warm spot to fit in. You may even end up sleeping on the couch just to make sure they have enough space to rest comfortably, safely, and happily.

Mariesa Hughes and his husband have admitted to having difficulty sleeping because there were too many dogs sleeping next to them.

In an interview with Inside Edition, she shared:

“Most mornings, I wake up and feel like I need a hip replacement trying to sleep around all these dogs. But, we want them to sleep with us.”

So, instead of giving up and surrendering their most loved dogs, they came up with a clever way to make sure everybody is happy during sleeping time.

They made a super bed.

And by super, they mean super big.

Their bed is just under 14 feet long and about 7 feet wide.

The headboard is quite big as well at 6 feet. It also has stairs!

Turning the bed into a reality wasn’t easy.

Their custom builder had a hard time. Mariesa shared:

“He ran into a couple obstacles. He built the head board too big, and couldn’t get it out of his basement. We had to start over.”

After six months, their super bed was finally completed.

The project took a long time to be completed. With their requested size, that’s not surprising at all. It required careful planning and lots of brainstorming to come up with the perfect design and plan.

The bed wasn’t just big; it looks nice as well. Made of solid cherry wood, the bedframe was hand carved. It has tons of space for everyone. In fact, they can get another dog and still sleep comfortably at night with the rest of the gang.

Mariesa shared:

“My greyhounds weren’t up on the bed very much [before], but they have both been able to sleep on the bed. We have at least five dogs scattered throughout the bed, and my hips feel great.”

The project wasn’t cheap.

The couple ended up paying $4,800 for their super bed. Although the price tag wasn’t cheap, it was worth every cent. They get to sleep next to their most loved dogs and they get to do it without worrying about backaches or hip discomforts the next day.

What Chris and Mariesa did earned tons of positive comments online.
