Man turned tree stump in front yard into talk of the neighborhood
The garden is often considered by some homeowners as the jewel of their house. They often go to great lengths to make it stand out from the rest in their neighborhood, from adding simple flower beds to extravagant garden fountains.
Gardening is actually a quite popular hobby, and frequently people spend a considerable amount of time and money to make their garden look special. In this story, we will see how a simple tree stump was transformed into a beautiful gnome house.
The garden belongs to Mimi and her husband, a married couple from Tennessee. In April 2015, Mimiās husband informed her that they needed to cut down a dead tree from their front lawn.
So, Mimi as a truly creative spirit who just loves a good project, entrusted her husband to help her transform the stump of the cut tree into a gnome house. In her video on YouTube, she takes us step by step through the construction process.
Of course, in order to finish their project, they had to buy some additional material but as Mimi explains herself, it was quite affordable and it helped to give to the little house a more real and believable image. During the video, we can actually observe how much care and careful work went into the project.
Mimiās Gnome House was such a success not only in their neighborhood but also on YouTube where their video had more than 3M views. The video was followed by a stream of congratulatory comments from people who had watched it and loved it. One viewer praised, āThat is absolutely adorable! I love it.ā, while another, inspired, wrote, āI have a stump left from a tree we cut down last year but I think itās too short to do this with. Darn! What a cute idea- Iāll have to remember next time we cut one downā.
Decorating your garden with ornaments, such as little fairy and gnome figurines, was more popular in the past compared to the present day. Nowadays, some people consider the practice to be a bit kitsch, but there are still plenty who like to give to their garden this magical element that only fairy and gnome houses can bring in.
Historically speaking, garden gnomes started to pop up in gardens, initially, all over Europe after the end of World War I. But, they soon became popular with the rest of the Western world as garden ornaments.
In Mimiās stump project, we see the different stages of the creative process, from the construction of the houseās roof, using little cedar squares to make the tiles, to the decoration of the houseās faƧade and to the little front yard. Mimi actually thought of everything, to make her gnome house as realistic as possible.
In her video, she explains how she bought some inexpensive little clay pots and flowers to create the illusion of a front yard and she also bought a shepherdās hook where she hung a tiny lantern to complement the whole scene. Her husband carved and painted tiny windows and a door for the faƧade of the house, which looked amazing!
What I love about this kind of creative home project is that you can recycle material and inexpensively you can create something totally new. Letās not forget that it gives you the opportunity to spend some quality time with your loved ones! I might try it myself!
