Couple becomes dance champions with their silky smooth moves

Did you know that dancing is great for reducing stress?
Even in the absence of lessons and experience, itâs still a fun activity that makes you feel relaxed and more yourself.
Just like exercise, dancing releases endorphins â happiness hormones that you can never have too much of.

Whether you prefer dancing alone or with a group, itâs definitely good for you.
There are so many dance styles you can explore, and the best part is, thereâs no pressure to become an expert at each one.
You just have to let loose, get lost in the music, and enjoy every movement.

Jay Rollins and Tobitha Stewart are dancers who love taking the audience back in time.
They know and admire dance styles that emerge, but they just love dancing the Carolina Shag.
The Shag is a quick and smooth dance that began on the beaches of South Carolina.
Itâs a social event essential â a fast dance that gets everyone on their feet, laughing and moving together.

Lucky for us, Jay and Tobitha are here to show how itâs done.
The highly-skilled pair have the dance down pat that theyâve reached the USA Grand National Dance Championship, where they wowed everyone with their choreography.
Weâre talking fancy footwork, smooth moves, and smiles all throughout.

More than being Shag dancing instructors, Tobitha and Jay were also inducted into the National Living Legends of Dance.
The honor was shared by Tobithaâs husband, Ashley, too.
The National Living Legends of Dance recognizes dancers from all over the country.
The dancers are inducted not just for their incredible dancing skills, but for their significant contributions to the world of dancing.

By watching Tobitha and Jay, you can tell just how passionate they are about dancing.
Dancing to âBoogie the Jointâ by Buddy Skipper and The Code Blues Band, the duo moved across the floor as though they werenât in the middle of a performance.
They were relaxed and clearly enjoying just dancing to the fast-paced song.

Itâs no surprise there that they earned the title of Master Shag Champions that day.
Not only that, but the video of their performance also earned over 2.4 million views on YouTube.
Ann, a fellow dancer, commented,
âMy husband and I used to Country Dance and the shag is similar to the East and West Coast Swing. We also attended the dance competitions. These dancers are really smooth. When you partner dance you have to be in sync. They were. I watched their feet and they are damn good.â

Tobitha and Jay are proof that doing what you love makes a world of difference.
They did more than just entertain and delight their audience â they served as inspiration for aspiring dancers, too.
A YouTube user named Peggy wrote,
âWhat a pleasure to watch. Thank you for sharing and showing us how itâs done.â
