Couple sings bewitching cover of John Denver classic
In the music industry, there are songs that people consider as timeless. These are the songs that people never get tired of listening to.
“Take Me Home, Country Roads ” is definitely one of them.
Released in 1971, it’s considered one of Denver’s most popular songs. In fact, people consider it as the artist’s signature song.
Because of how popular the song is, a lot of artists have done covers of it. The list includes The Speedos, Billie Jo Spears, The King, and Mary Duff.
And now you can add these two talented young artists to that list.
They are gaining attention on social media for their own cover of the song, and when you hear it you will know exactly why.
Emily Joy and Luke Gallagher did a heavenly cover of the country song.
It was beautiful to listen to and watch. Their version of the song was very light and laid back, and the couple harmonized effortlessly- creating a version that’s simple but unique.
They picked the perfect spot for the song.
Emily and Luke struggled to find the perfect venue to do the shoot.
Since it was a country song, they wanted to do their cover somewhere they can get that vibe. They went on a road trip just to find it.
On her Instagram page, Emily shared:
“We were almost back home, having pretty much given up when I thought ‘let’s go past the zig zag trail…in the hills that overlooks our city of Perth. And as we were driving down it, I noticed a beautiful red dirt road leading off the trail – (after hours of searching, a road had never looked so ‘beautiful’ haha). We pulled over, got out our guitar, mics, set up my iPhone 5C on a tripod and hit ‘record‘.
The couple shot the video on a dirt road. On its side were trees and bushes. Just looking at that road, you can easily tell that it’s the perfect place to sing the classic song.
However, despite being the perfect location for the shoot, Emily didn’t feel completely comfortable singing there.
She said:
“I felt like a snake was gonna come out and bite me.”
Even if she felt afraid of snakes, it didn’t stop her from singing beautifully. Her voice didn’t crack or drift out of tune even once. She remained professional and focused on the song.
The pair’s hard work was worth it.
The effort they put into finding the perfect location and singing despite their fear was all worth it.
Everyone who’s seen their video is singing their praises.
One of their viewers said:
“Amazingly simple guitar playing but the real beauty comes from the voice variations. Well done both of you!”
Another one commented:
“Your cover conveys totally different feelings than the original – I love it. While the original is alot about joy and pride about one’s country (at least in my opinion), your cover conveys more of a senitmental feeling about it.”
The song is just one of the videos Emily and Luke have on their respective channels.
They also did Love Yourself, Jolene, Red, White Christmas, and The One That Got Away. And just like the country song, they did an excellent job covering all of them.
They were able to give a different twist and emotion to an old tune, and that’s what makes their work a hit for their fans.
Don’t just take our word for it- see for yourself in their video below.
