When you see people do it, you can’t help but be amazed by all that energy on the floor.

You can easily hop into that type of dance and join the crowd even if you’re not a professional dancer.

The Rose City Swing is an organization that celebrates swing dancing and more.

This event was organized in Portland, Oregon, and’s been running for almost a decade.

The organization envisions an annual social dancing event that fosters an inclusive, friendly, and comfortable dance environment for all.

It’s a good thing they highlight swing dancing because the history of the dance has always been about diversity.

It originated in the late 1920s and continued its fame for a couple more years.

It started as what we know now as Lindy Hop, which they danced with jazz music, and it continued to evolve into different variations like Jitterbug, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, and Jive.

The recent Rose City Swing has again shown how fun swing dancing can be.

Contestants were sitting all on stage, waiting for their turn. And get this – with a drink on hand!

No better way to enjoy swing dancing, right?

One of the dance formats that would make swing dancing more fun is Jack & Jill (J&J), where the dancing couples are randomly picked.

KP Rutland and Alyssa Glanville were this year’s Inspirational J&J category winners.

These two dancers have so much dance experience, especially in swing dancing.

And while this selection might be random, the way they danced on the floor made it look like they’d been dancing together for a long time already!

They danced to the song “I Heard it Through the Grapevine,” and it’s a perfect swing song.

This Motown Records hit from the 60s, written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong, was first recorded by Gladys Knight and the Pips.

However, the more popular version most of us know is the one by Marvin Gaye.

This song’s R&B and soul rhythm mix matches the high-energy footwork and upper-body flow of swing dance.

You can see that it will be a fun performance from the beginning.

KP and Alyssa started moving on the floor, feeling the song’s groove and swinging their bodies to the rhythm.

Every twist and turn they did on stage was nothing short of amazing, and their grace would make anyone watching them smile.

What’s more fitting? The moment they reached the chorus, they did the grapevine step!

Their feet moved to the song’s beat, and their body was just feeling it.

It’s exhilarating to see how KP moves along with Alyssa, especially when she turns her around.

And can we just appreciate how their arms and bodies intertwine without getting tangled?

That’s a professional pair right there!

People in the comments section enjoyed this performance as well.

They love KP and Alyssa’s energy on that floor, and everyone agrees it’s too contagious.

One even gave KP the thumbs up for being a great lead on that number, and we couldn’t agree more.
