What would you do if a stranger crawled onto your bed and snuggles up beside you and your spouse? Sounds creepy, right? But, this couple felt otherwise when they found out who exactly was feeling too warm and cozy on their bed.

Julie Thornton Johnson and her husband, Jimmy, were surprised one morning when they saw a fluffy stranger sleeping next to them.

It is 4:00 AM and still dark, but Julie was already up. She felt that something was off when she saw the pup lying on the bed, but she did not make much of it because they already have three dogs of their own named Hollis, Jupiter, and Zeppelin.

The woman went back to bed and continued her sleep. When the couple woke up, what they saw surprised them.

The dog sleeping on their bed is not one of their pups at all.

Jimmy woke up at 6:00 AM and was stunned at seeing an unfamiliar dog catching some Z’s with them. Julie was even sleeping soundly next to the doggo.

“Julie, whose dog is this?” he asked in a hushed tone, careful not to wake the stranger.

That’s when Julie started to realize that the pup snoozing beside her is not Hollis, Jupiter, or Zeppelin. She rolled over carefully and looked at the brown, furry visitor. Oops, not their dog.

Julie feared that someone has broken into their home, so they checked.

It appeared that the only stranger in their house is the dog on the bed, and it looked like it only wanted to sleep comfortably. It was surely one of the most unusual things she ever experienced so she went to Facebook and posted about it.

“This is the weirdest post I have ever had to make. 😂 Is this your dog? 🐕 Please share,” she wrote on Facebook.

Apparently, the dog did not have any identification attached to it like a collar with its name on it, so the couple had no other choice but to wait for the dog’s owner to respond to their post. Fortunately, the dog’s real owner surfaced and reached out to them. The woman was on her way to get her pup, and Julie posted about the update on her Facebook account.

Julie made sure that she had enough identification and proof that the dog really belonged to the person claiming to be her owner.

The woman sent photos of the dog from Christmas and Easter to prove that she really was the pup’s mom. As it turned out, the dog’s real name is Nala and she is a fan of sleeping in. She was too comfortable on Julie and Jimmy’s bed, and it would be a challenge to remove her from there!

Nala’s owners are Felecia Johnson and Cris Hawkins. The night before, their dad took the pup out for a walk but she slipped out of her collar. They went looking for her and she could not be found because she ran into the woods.

They got the dog home later that day but Nala was too curious and adventurous to just go back home. She went away again, and the next thing the couple knew was that their dog has visited Julie and Jimmy and slept on their bed.

Felecia picked up Nala but convincing her to go back home was challenging.

“She’s almost as big as I am, but since she’s been a puppy, I carry her on my hip like she’s a little kid,” Felecia said. “And now that she’s grown, she still expects me to do that. It’s a lot harder now, but I had to carry this big dog out of (Julie and Jimmy’s) house. If it wasn’t crazy enough. … I had to carry her out like a child.”

What a big baby! Nala’s “sleepover” at Johnson’s house led the two families to decide to meet up and have a play date for all their pups. They all had a great time and the dogs bonded, too.

“The four of us could not even believe the attention this story has gotten and how one dog has brought the four of us together,” Julie shared. “The eight of us, actually — four humans and four dogs — into, I hope, a friendship.”
